Topic: Tag Discussion: <color>_stripes/spots

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Should we,

A. Alias all <color>_stripes/spots with stripes/spots, and encourage people to tag them with either <color>_fur/skin for the color of the stripes/spots.

or

B. Implicate all <color>_stripes/spots with stripes/spots and leave it be.

or

C. Do absolutely nothing and ignore this.

Additional,

striped_fur make invalid
spotted_fur make invalid
striped_skin make invalid
spotted_skin make invalid

Reason,
Get people to tag them with their respective colors of stripes/spots

Colors of Stripes
Colors of Spots

Updated

What we need is a new tag system that allows one tag to encompass another (an inner) tag.

For instance, Stripes<Black>, which is a Stripes<> tag that has an inner tag of type Color.

Or Text<English>, that is a Text<> tag with an inner tag of type Language.

I'm not even joking.

Actually, I'll just make a new thread for this, because this idea sounds too good!

I think that it would work wonderfully for a site like 20pc where the majority of characters have a name, or can easily be given one.

However, it would probably start to fall apart with many generic characters where linking the tags may just be too confusing for most people. For instance with post #49863 post #526237 post #531027

Edit: post #267157

That sounds more like tag subscripts or tag-values. But you are also kind of bundling in the idea of custom tag types /groups, AFAICS.

And then parts of Char's tag grouping idea as well.

If you seriously want to propose that, it definitely needs unpacking.

Either black_hair/white_hair(for that mane) and black_skin/white_skin(for them stripes + base color).

.. so what would I search to get zebra striped characters? stripes black_skin white_skin? If you look at the results of that search, it shows plenty of corner cases -- tigers, sharks.. basically any >=3-element color scheme.

I don't see a problem with B (that is, I'm not recommending it, it just unlike A doesn't seem to have any obvious issues). Also I agree with Parasprite's comment on invalidation.

(by zebra-striped, I'm gonna presume fully-striped characters)

Hmmm.... well there's this,

Body Parts

I would use striped_body for fully-striped characters(no exact definition in wiki) but it's so underused it looks invalid.
