I really like PMVs with smash cuts on the beats. The (recent?) trend of three columns is really nice so you can pick which character to focus on.

I avoid rewatching PMVs very often in order to keep the experience fresh, so I can't say what exactly I like about each of these. I will say that I generally appreciate any editing that is more creative than just a slideshow of unenhanced gifs. Bonus points if it's mostly pics and animations that I haven't seen in a pmv before.

I for the life of me can not find Komdog's pmvs, I can't tell if I'm stupid or if he got rid of all of them. How did you find them?

i know im 8 months late but,
its up on a discord server. i remember back in the day i think i got access through the old FHF pornhub account. I cant find the account so i presume it's gone now. I think the discord sever is called furbeat central.
i do have them downloaded on hard drive but idk if it would be a good idea to upload them currently.

I never understood the appeal of PMVs, personally. It was always strange to me but maybe that's because I don't like music in smut unless it's something similar to what zonkpunch does.

I've been thinking about why I like PMVs so much for a while and, for me, I think it's more about the transformative aspect than the music. Great PMVs have this way of recontextualizing it's contents into a sum greater than it's parts. They can highlight a vibe about a subject (even if that subject is as broad as "sex") that I don't think I've ever seen any long form erotica capture so purely. It's like a way of taking the feeling you get when you initially find a piece of nsfw art with some of your favorite kinks and artificially sustaining that feeling, sometimes even intensifying it, over the course of 3 minutes.

My favorite PMVs are ones that focus around a specific theme, whether that's a kink or a character, maybe even a whole franchise? (though that usually gets too broad for me) A PMV focused around a character can portray a narrative about them, maybe even tell a story... usually about how they're a giant slut, but that's what a lot of porn is about anyway. A PMV focused on a kink can be a kind of showcase of all the possible scenarios and angles that the kink can be approached from, maybe starting with it's lighter, more accessible, forms, but gradually covering weirder and more extreme forms over the run time of the video, for example. PMVs can also make associations that you might not make viewing the original material on your own. An interesting, though perhaps not to everyone's taste (be warned) example can be found in the furry PMV "Huslte" by Nooky on rule34video which is composed of straight penetration animations that are very neatly divided into 5 categories which are shown in the following order (last chance to skip if you don't like the idea of really unsanitary acts around anal) Oral, Oral and Anal dp, Anal, Anal and vaginal dp, and vaginal. I'm not sure what the intention was ordering them this way, but it's obviously deliberate and makes me personally think about the idea of having all your holes fucked in that order.

I also think PMVs have similar feel to multi song mashups, which is probably my favorite music genre that doesn't have a proper name. (see Truxton, DJ Earworm, Girl Talk, Dean Gray, digboye, Shake⇪Up, or the 78 Silver & 78 Gold project for examples) As an autistic person who's felt isolated from the rest of humanity for as long as they can remember, these mashups are probably the only pieces of art that can make me feel and embrace a sense of universal human oneness. The thought that all these pre-existing works of art, (music) made usually in complete unawareness of each other, can be combined together, weaved by the underlying vibes that they all had in common all along in a harmonious united expression, WITHOUT sacrificing the uniqueness of each contributing voice.. They can be a real emotional experience for me to listen to.

Anyway, PMVs are kind of like that, except they're more depictions of a collective horniness than rather than universal human oneness. So, smaller scale and different feeling, but I think it still functions along the same lines. Like with mashups, good PMVs focus all their components around a unified expression and convey the idea that all the gifs and video clips and images all share and contribute to a common, underlying, vibe. Even if that vibe is simply "plapping butts is fun".

I wish I could connect with your explanation but I can't seem to. I DO like stuff like this though so I think it's a certain category or like, diegetic like that animation vs non-diegetic including "to the beat" animations keidragons' animations or those PMVs. It just feels too much like it's trying to be a porn music video (obviously) so it's hard to connect with it.

That's exactly what I mean. It's in the background, not something with the music being more frontal.
