Topic: [REJECTED] Tag implication: cooking_with_scalies -> cooking_with_furs

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag implication #51580 cooking_with_scalies -> cooking_with_furs has been rejected.

Reason: The reasoning for this is because people who search for the tag cooking_with_furs (which is the main tag about creatures being cooked) will be able to see cooking_with_scalies as well, otherwise they will be missing a portion of posts the would like to see as well.

EDIT: The tag implication cooking_with_scalies -> cooking_with_furs (forum #375102) has been rejected by @slyroon.

I feel like this should be an alias, we usually treat any anthro or feral character of any class or phylum as "furry". I don't really see the need for a separate tag for scalies.

I don’t like the tag cooking_with_furs. It doesn’t fit with our general tagging trends. Unless it’s a popular phrase in the relevant part of the fandom, I think it should be something like being_cooked.

Both should be renamed, IMO. "Cooking with furs" sounds like a cooking show hosted by furries, or furries doing some cooking, and doesn't at all sound like what it's meant for, anthros being or having been cooked or prepared to be eaten.

I think something like <form>_prepared_as_food, cooked_<form>, or just <form>_as_food would probably be best.

What would the general tag be? I assume we want something that covers anthros, ferals, humanoids, etc.

I’m trying to think of something that covers both being cooked (e.g. currently in the oven) as well as having been cooked (e.g. currently served on a plate). Of course, thinking about this has made me realize joining this site was a mistake, but that’s neither here nor there.

that's why I was kinda leaning toward using <form>_as_food since that has the widest definition, you can pretty comfortably use that for characters being sold as meat, being prepared to be eaten, after being served, and while being consumed. but I also think like there's some ambiguity between that tag name and the *_prey tag family, and also losing out on the unique tag family name since there are already other *_as_food tags .

yeaah...

I'm just going to bump this thread because I'm now thinking butchered_* is the best term for the tag family, I think it fits just about every situation where the current tag is used, and in addition, the butchered tag would be perfect as the parent tag, it's currently unpopulated and I think it's a pretty understandable tag name.

I was kind of iffy on *_prepared_as_food even when I initially suggested it because it didn't work as a parent tag and also it was a bit of a mouthful for a tag.

TBF, cooking with furs is a pretty common slang term for this. If an alias or implication is made, it should be pretty clear what the meaning is.

part of the problem is that it's not applicable every case of things people might want to blacklist, like I don't think it'd apply to a flora_fauna or something. it's also imprecise, "with furs" is a really broad category, I'd think this would be the kind of tag that would benefit from proper form and/or gender seperation.

also, just in general I'm not a huge fan of using slang terms that might be misconstrued as tag names when a more clear concise term would work better.
