This is something that's been stuck in my craw for a good while. I almost exclusively prefer NSFW videos that have sound in them. By sound, I mean actual sound effects, NOT just music (being able to hear the sex noises gets my motor running, sue me. *shrug*). And so it understandably gets frustrating whenever I search the "sound" tag and click on a video, only for the "sound" to be nothing more than a music track the artist just slapped on top of the video and called it a day.

I strongly feel that there ought to be a tag specifically for denoting that a video has actual sound effects in it. I mean, we already have one for "music" in a video, so it makes sense, doesn't it?

I would normally suggest just using the tag "sound effects", but it's already been appropriated for image posts that have written indications of sounds (e.g. "onomatopoeia", even though THAT is already a tag on its own that serves the exact same purpose, so I honestly don't understand why there are two tags for the exact same thing).

Personally, if I had my way, "sound effects" would be removed from image posts and used EXCLUSIVELY on videos for the purposes mentioned above, since image posts already have "onomatopoeia" for that. Unfortunately, that would mean dumping several metric fucktons of extra tag editing work on the volunteer tag editors and casual users of this site, so I'd rather not do that if I can avoid it.

Instead, I would suggest creating a new tag for videos that have actual sound effects. The most logical one that comes to mind for me would be "audio_effects", or even just shorten it to "audio_fx".

Because unlike "sound effects", it's my personal belief that the word "audio" is associated much more with the concept of sound that's specifically broadcast through a speaker of some kind, so it hopefully would not be as likely to get misused on images with written sounds in place of the existing tags.

Obviously, this would also mean a considerable amount of updating work for taggers, but it'd be much LESS than what removing "sound_effects" from every image post AND adding it to every relevant video would entail.

I'm open to any other suggestions for tag names that could be used for this purpose. Or, if you have a better solution for filtering music-only videos from searching "sound", I'm all-ears (pun intended). But I've exhaustively searched for a way to do that already, and I've come up empty, which is why I'm suggesting this new tag to begin with.

Why not tag sound_effects directly? Am I missinjg something?

The wiki entry for "sound_effects" says that "Audible sound effects are not yet supported through this tag, but could be supported in the future". I'm not sure what exactly the "in the future" bit means, and there's a not insignificant amount of contradictory language in the sentence following that one in the entry, but as near as I can tell, it sounds like that tag isn't intended to be used on videos.

I'm asking for a singular tag that could be used for denoting sound effects in videos, and ONLY in videos. As it already stands, the "sound_effects" tag is hardly ever used (or in this case, MISused) on video posts that have sound effects in them. It's not remotely a reliable filtering tag for sound videos. (Proof of this: Searching the "sound" tag by itself yields 374 pages of posts. Searching the "sound" and "sound_effects" tags together yields only 49 pages. And all of those are technically misusing the tag if the wiki is to be believed.)
