I dunno, looking at the Wikipedia page for the color it seems like some shades called "lilac" are closer to pink.

they all seem to be within the violet huespace of 255-285⁰, with one listed is exactly on the line between violet and magenta at 285⁰, but we gotta make the cuttoff somewhere.

To be pedantic, this should be aliased to magenta, but I know that will never happen. the second color closest to lilac is pink, so I second Vulpes' opinion.

I'm fine with having purple rather than violet and pink rather than magenta, even if it does mean that the definition of pink is a bit wonk as it's both magenta and also sneaks into the lower saturation shades of red.

Lilac tends to look more purpleish/lavender to me, and it seems most of the uses look closer to purple, so aliasing to pink would cause more mistags.

It'll cause mistags anyway because there are purple colored characters and pink characters under the tag, it would need manual cleanup before approval.

Wikipedia describes lilac as a "pale violet" and the wiki page for violet states it's "closely associated with purple". I think it's probably better to go by the more formally defined definitions because the way people interpret colours can differ quite a bit from person to person and differs from device to device as well.
