Topic: Steven Universe - What is accepted?

Posted under General

Hello,

Just wanted to get clarity on the rules of uploading Steven Universe content, I had one piece of my Gemsona's rejected because it was classed as "Human" even though she was green yet there is lots of Steven Universe art posted of the various gems so is there a limitation of what sort of Gems can be uploaded (I get the normal human cast like Steven/Connie/Stevonnie and the Beach City Humans wouldn't be allowed on their own) but is it to do with the skin tone of the character (Example: Peridot and Amethyst are allowed because they are Green and Purple but Rose Quartz isn't allowed because she is human skin tone

many thanks for any clearing up on this subject~

Skin color isn't considered when classifying a character as non-human, otherwise characters from stuff like the simpsons would be allowed. Physical differences to the character's body need to be visible to qualify.

see: uploading_guidelines#humans

Well if that is the case then shouldn't all Steven Universe Gems be allowed as they are Alien Lightforms

What they are doesn't matter for relevancy consideration, only what they look like. In most cases gems just look like normal humans with technicolor skin, so they're considered irrelevant.

Aliens that look like humans are, for all intents and purposes, humans. Aliens that look like foxes are, for all intents and purposes, foxes. So on and so forth.

So the aliens that clearly have gems embeded in them will still count as Human?
I mean...Elves are SUPER close to not being different.

So in comparison, despite simple skin color change not being accepted. I feel like a skin color + Gem embeded combo sounds pretty acceptable to me.

I get what you're saying but that's rather broad and surface level.
There's gonna be a point when elves arent accepted here...I swear that day will come.

Cause peeps like me will always say Elves are just pointy eared humans.
I beleive they're here simply because MODS like them.

Say goodbye to Link and Zelda people! lol

I think if the embeded gem is visible than that might push it over the edge into being relevant.

although, I really don't think that applies to this case here; I believe the post in question is post #3948385 (FA link) which, to me, seems to just be a very green human wearing body armour, vambraces, and greaves with a PCB print and a headband/headset/scouter. no gem visible.

You'd be wrong. There's staff who don't like them and wouldn't be adverse to seeing them go bye-bye. Believe it or not, staff are here mostly for the fuzzier characters.

Humanoid pointy ears are allowed because e621 needs a clearly defined cutoff point between what is too human and just acceptably non-human. If a compromise is a solution in which both parties are dissatisfied, then humanoid pointy ears is a good compromise.

This is downright conspiratorial; the vast majority of post approvers have public non-zero favorites, and of those, ~elf ~hylian posts tend to be nonexistent. It's not like the approvers with hidden/zero favorites are all participating in some kind of secret elven cabal, either.

The Elfspriricy is real

Okay I'm gonna start uploading more SU stuff here, as confusing as it may be that it's a toss up which gems are allowed and which are not considering InkBunny allows them, I just want to archive as much art as I can for people to discover

you're clearly stepping on a landmind. Even I can see it.

The only one that looks even remotely acceptable is Peridot, Pearl, Jasper, Opal, Amathyst
And I only say that cause their gems are visible. But that may not help you get them approved. GL

Landmines, yes, but if elves can be archived so can alien lightforms (I for one also approve archiving Elves too but it seems hypocritical that you can't Archive them as well, in the end trying my best to archive as much as possible)

not allowing different color humans passing as aliens isn't so hypocritical.
What's hypocritical is not lettying humans in full-blown furry costumes in art bypass the system despite the fandom being all about that hit.
Now that is hypocritical.

Anyway, good luck dude.

Okay both of the Gem posts I posted got rejected even though it was a gem that was transparent and wasn't looking like a "Human" and the post had like 700+ favourites and now it happened to my Marceline Abadeer (From Adventure Time) being rejected for being "Human" even though she's a Vampire and has 700+ Posts already on the site, it always a gamble on what even is allowed, sometimes you get a mod that understands then you get mods that do the opposite, it's kinda like half the time they don't look at what's it is and it's all whim based *sigh* I just want to do my best to archive as much art as possible for people to enjoy but it being a dice roll on what is allowed
