The tag alias #62295 cyan_areola -> blue_areola is pending approval.
Reason: cyan_nipples is already aliased to blue_nipples, for consistency they should be the same.
Discussion: Should other cyan_* tags also be aliased to blue?

No, they should all be unaliased because cyan ain't blue, but I know it ain't gonna happen because despite overwhelming support for an unalias, an admin still rejected the bur becouse it apparently lost the 'admin vote'.
That's all there is to be had to this discussion. A formal "No" from me and plenty other folks, but I don't wanna fight the administration over it.

It seems to be the closest color people interpret it as, so yes. People won't have perfect knowledge of images they're looking for, so more general tags will be more helpful than more specific tags. The alternative would have some cyan and blue things mixed up between blue_* and cyan_* tags, which will cause people to need to search both for a blue or cyan thing anyway (to say nothing of more greener cyan shades, causing searches for blue things getting more green results, and searches for green things getting more blue results, helping no one).
I still think we should reallow the cyan_* tag family overall, it's a real color, without it we have a massive 120⁰ gap of imprecision between green_* and blue_* when every other color tag is 60⁰ or 30⁰ from its neighbor.
I just don't think we should be standing for cyan denialism anymore...

Admins have said in the past teal is an official color (forum #355550) so that's what would go between green and blue. Here's a BUR I wrote to fix up all the teal tags: topic #37305

teal is a shade of cyan, generally it's somewhere around #008080 when pure cyan is #00FFFF, so same hue, different luminosity. if teal is a valid color now we should be aliasing the cyan_* tags to teal_* rather than to blue_*.
(I like cyan as a tag name a bit more than teal, but we already hav pink rather than magenta, so whatever)

And greener cyan colors are stll cyan, so somebody will try to tag cyan, it will redirect to blue meanwhile it has more G than B. No wonder blue_fur has so many posts under it because of those reckless aliaes.

The alternative would be to disambiguate it (which FWIW, wasn't a thing back then; it would've just been aliased to invalid_tag if not aliased to blue), resulting in cyan things not being tagged with a valid color at all. I agree an alias to blue isn't perfect, but it seems to be the least bad option to me.

I was present for the internal discussion regarding cyan, and it is a bit more complicated than that.
That being said, teal has been deemed valid for certain reasons that cyan was not, and teal is far closer to cyan than blue is, making that a better alias target.
Cyan is closer to teal than blue. alias cyan -> teal instead
