Topic: Is this weird?

Posted under Off Topic

I assume most viewers of R34 only look for pornography of characters they already see through a sexual lens, but I often whack it to characters that I don't normally think of as attractive. Is this weird?

For example, if someone rubs one off to Toriel R34, they probably think of Toriel sexually in normal contexts, right? Or am I mistaken?

I seem to view characters in R34 completely separately from their normal appearances. Is this unusual?

Nah, I think different people draw completely different things. You can be attracted to the normal depiction or another, or both. It's fine.

"If I'm as normal as I think I am, we're all a bunch of weirdos." ~ Joe Brainard

You never know what might get you all hot and bothered, but when you do, you just do. I wouldn't worry about it.

Disconnecting the characters to me basically changes the character. It basically feels like an OC to me more than the character but changed a little.

I don't think it's weird, there's sound logic in what you say. but I personally don't do what you do, I can't disconnect the characters i like non sexually.

Rule 34 tends to sexualize characters very hard. Toriel of r34 looks nothing like canon toriel. The huge tits and other "mommy" qualities of porn toriel are either absent or extremely reduced in the actual game. The graphics of undertale doesn't lend itself well to a sexual character anyways.

I think you vastly underestimate the power of an appealing design and good writing. Whether they're actually sexually attractive doesn't have that much to do with it. They just have to look nice and/or stand out.

So I think it's pretty common to look at porn of characters that aren't sexually attractive already.

Separation between r34 and normal is probably common.
