Topic: massive ammount of wrong tags

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

is there a way to mass edit tags? pics tagged both my_little_pony and loli were incorrectly tagged loli (as they are clearly just feral and not humanoid at all) for 12 of 28 images, and continues to be mis-tagged at a similar rate for at least 200 of the newest images. going through all 2K images would be a pretty huge project to try to do manually but it's also the largest collection of mis-tagged art I've seen here in 15 years and I can't just leave it as-is.

Yes, but that feature is mostly reserved for Priv+ users only due to the potential for mass tag vandalism.
I think there may be third-party e621 scripts out there that allow mass tag edits, but there is also the account limitations for normal users (i.e., 150 tag edits per hour).

I am not sure about the exact ruling since I don't use the tag at all, but I think the wiki does implicitly say that loli can be tagged on feral characters?

If that is not the case, you will still have to go through each and every post to manually fix the tags since we dissuade users from blanket tagging posts without viewing them beforehand. A lot of mistags happen through blanket/mass tag edits and people have gotten banned before because to that.

You may also suggest this as a new tagging project on topic #23571, but you will have to hope that someone volunteers to help with your project.

Applying feral subset of cub to loli tag seems lulzy and wrong.

that depends on how you define loli and/or shota. the general definition differs from the site definition slightly, e6 is more strict on when it is applicable and to whom it applies to, while other sites follow the general definition and are a lot more lax when it comes to what characters are considered what and why.

i've been tagging loli on young females that are feral for the sake of thoroughness, i've witnessed far too many complaints about the various young tags not successfully being blacklisted that i've tried setting some standards for the tag, based around human/animal biology and the general standards and occurrences i've witnessed on e6. tagging a feral as loli/shota doesn't seem to make many people irate, what makes people irritated is their blacklists not working and harsh rules lawyering over definitions of tags... and for the flip case of people searching through those tags, they can always just add -feral in their search or et cetera, it's not like e6 doesn't have the tools to tailor searches to one's whims.

but in the end, that's my stance on this matter. by no means is it an official administrative ruling, i'm just speaking with what experience i've had on this site.

The specific cases I was thinking of are Pokemon or the like. Fictional ferals that might only be 'inspired' by real animals. i.e. Is that fox, or a cat, or a dog, or you know what, it's an Eevee, forget it. XD

fictional ferals definitely throw a wrench into tagging even young, WoW does a good job with their dragons and whelplings but not all fictional species are so thorough in design. for example, Eevee is typically seen as a canine, so you can try to use canine pups to compare and contrast, however Ekans would be harder since snakes have a distinct "noodle" look to them when they're hatchlings, and a very small Ekans wouldn't fit that bill to the T. at that point, it's best to either leave it alone if you don't feel like you'd make the correct decision, bring it up in the tag discussions channel in our discord (without directly linking it, just provide the ID since Discord hates young), or report it and ask for an administrative decision if there's a tag war going on.

this ultimately ain't a foolproof science, stuff on e6 is rarely so easy, so it's mostly just winging it if you find grey areas or maybe/maybe-nots.

Baby snakes also have claw-like appendages that are basically very short legs, right? I think they call them egg claws?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snake Oh, right, they also have the concept of an 'egg tooth' that does much of the same. It seems to vary by species.
