Topic: Why is your fursona the species it is?

Posted under General

imagine sticking to one species lmao
my fursona is whatever i feel like it being at the moment.
more so I should say my fursona is one of my "characters", except I don't roleplay as it.
currently i don't know what it is probably mountain lion atm, but it is typically one of the following: mountain lion, (spotted) hyena, fossa, inca-ren (alien thing), ferret, rat (haha skaven lookin' ass), gryphon, noodle dragon, or furred dragon.
all of which have their respective character to go with, but really i just steal the design and like "haha i am you now i can do this because i made you" and attach my own personality to it instead of the character's personality.

I really do not have a "Fursona" right now, and I have never had.

(my current avatar you see now, is just an image I found here that I liked... the character is Ark Gullwing, which is at the same time a character and a fursuiter / artist ... so I hope it would not be considered as 'stealing' or something ).

=(.

I started being a furry very young and long ago, starting by admiring and loving characters from Disney... so I started liking very much and looking for art of deer, dogs, cats and foxes. Surprisingly, I never imagened that my fursona - if I eventually would have one - could be a mice, even when "NIMH" was one of my favorite movies. Somehow the small size of rodents make them a bit alien to me. But mammals in general, are close to us humans and feel very much like us, I mean, have emotions much corresponding to us... specially social mammals, like wolves. So I could have imagined me as having a fursona of a wolf or a dog.

But later, little by little, I have started to look much more for avian art. Birds could also be highly intelligent and have also emotions like us. From my perspective, birds are much more evolved beings than mammals. During my life, irl, I had the experience of "befriending" a flock o ravens, and exchanged gifts. If I search for art here in e6, it trends to be now more about birds. So right now, if I would have to choose a fursona, it will be avian, or mostly avian.

I like huskies, am goofy like a husk, and for deeper lore, the black & white fur represents my racial make up (African American & Italian).

Bigger ears = more space for piercings. Besides that, fennecs are simply my favorite animals.

OOOO I LOVE FENNECS!
They are so smol and snuggly!

Well I have three main ones: A Buizel, a red fox and a dragon. Buizel cause at the time it was my favorite Pokèmon and I was on a big Pokèmon kick. I started watching the anime at gen 1 but didn't really fully get into it until gen 4. Once I discovered what a furry was I decided to make a Pokèsona. His name is Yoshimori Ichimora and he's a Pokèmon trainer who used to be human until an unfortunate incident causing the death of one of his Pokèmon led to him finding a peculiar looking Mystic Water sporting the motif of a Buizel cause his transformation. He can't be caught or evolve. Also he's water/psychic cause a mishap while training his Kadabra (Psychosis) cause him to take a Psybeam to the head but instead of harming him it boosted his brain functions causing him to develop psychic powers. I named him after the main character in Kekkaishi, Yoshimori. Also because I love Yoshis.

The red fox came later during an rp. I like foxes. He's called Koori Vulpes which means Ice (Japanese) Red Fox (Latin). He's...his story changed a lot. He's from a tribe of red fox mages specializing in pyromancy. He can not perform pyromancy instead using aquamancy and cryomancy. This makes him special in that he automatically becomes the Chief when the current one steps down. Water/Ice mages are held in high regards in their tribe because they are only born when the Sacred Ritual is performed and the performers are deemed worthy by the gods and recieve their blessing. It is only performed once every 50 years. He hated it and decided to leave the tribe. He currently lives with Yoshimori.

The dragon came later. I love dragons. He's called Ryuiki Takashiki. He's a fire/frost breathing winged aquatic dragon. His scales have a purifying property that purifies any liquid that comes into contact with them. His gills allow him to breathe in both salt and fresh water. His wings fold up and lay flat against his back. The webbing on his fingers and toes can detach and reattach at will. His frost/fire breath can differeniate between friend and foe so he'll never burn or freeze his friends. He can also fire napalm balls and liquid nitrogen balls from his mouth. He lives with his blue reef shark boyfriend Ryoko Atsuma.

They represent a different stage in my life. Yoshi was when I was still figuring myself out. As such he is bi and tends to prefer the company of his Pokèmon to that of other people mirroring how I was as a teen (Thought I was bi and was more comfortable around my cats (animals love me for some reason) than other people). Koori was when I was starting to accept myself. As such he is gay and more confident with himself mirroring how I was in my late teens early twenties (accepted being gay and a furry and gained self-confidence from it). Ryuiki is how I am now. As such he's fully accepting of himself and has a much easier time talking to people mirroring how I am now only he doesn't have depression.

I will be happy to provide additional information on them or answer any questions. Just ask me in a dm. I have a whole world surrounding these three with lots of stories (both sfw and nsfw) to share.

My fursona, Wax, is a deinonychus, a toon for that matter. I just chose deinonychus for him for the hell of it, but I suppose you could say it's because deinonychus as a species has been deeply misrepresented over the course of its history, even to this day. He is a character that evolves with me, as I gain understanding of myself and of the world around me.

Deinonychus were intelligent and fierce, but not as scary and monstrous as Jurassic Park fans make them out to be, nor as silly and useless as people might think when seeing one with feathers. Wax is a good representation of that nuance. He's chaotic and silly but can be very serious and smart when he wants to be. He's just a guy who likes to draw.

I like dolphins. Blame David Brin for that.

I also like synths. I'm not sure who to blame for that, other than Vader-San, I guess.

I used to think you had to have some sort of complex justification about how your sona represents something deep and significant about you. Nope, literally just commission an artist to smash together things you like and it'll be great. I don't even RP or write stories, but just seeing this guy's face next to the things I say on Discord makes me happy.

I'm an owl because I love them and birds in general, but also because feathers look good with uhm... Nsfw reasons involving a particular stomach and maw centric fetish.

My sona's preferred form is a badger because I was going through a Harry Potter phase at the time I settled on it, and it just stuck even after I stopped giving that series the time of day.
His true form is a tanuki because I was settling on a last name for him, and it turns out the Japanese words for "badger" and "tanuki" are interchangeable. Also because I wanted an excuse to be able to transform if it proved necessary.

I don't have any posts with him on e6, but both forms can be seen here.

i was trying to decide on a fursona while looking at house-brand cereal boxes in the cereal aisle. one time, it was a beaver, and the next, it was a fox.

I liked the idea of a skinny bear since I've been equating most bears as big bara like styles. Make him more like a fuckboy with a slight slutty demeanor. I never drew him, but others have drawn him.

Wickerbeast, mostly due to me deciding I liked their size, shape, and all of that. I mostly just felt at home as one, it's lovely~ Protogen is a close second for me!
