The tag alias #57994 akimbo -> hands_on_hips has been rejected.

Reason: Some people use akimbo, but the main tag is hands_on_hips. Aliasing them would make searching and tagging easier

i feel like the two can be different. not quite sure how to explain it, but akimbo is more of a triumphant gesture. something a proud character might do.
but for hands on hips, it could be a different kind of pose where the elbows aren't necessarily turned outward (which akimbo is).

...so i say, but looking at the posts for hands on hips, i can't find very many that aren't also akimbo. this could be tricky.

i do agree with you about the searching and tagging part, though. there are probably very many people who don't know what akimbo means.

I agree with disambiguation. I can't say I've ever heard akimbo used for hands on hips before, when I hear the term it's almost always been in reference to dual wielding handguns. Except for one time it was used (probably erroneously) to refer to someone laying spread_eagle.

I guess I can't create a BUR until this and topic #23078 are rejected? Well here's the draft.

Akimbo can mean both "having hands on hips with elbows turned outward":https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/akimbo and [[dual wielding]], some people might not be familiar with one or the other meaning.

Currently all posts under [[akimbo]] tag only feature [[hands on hips]].
