Topic: Turn your brain off to Anime, not even good anime sometimes...

Posted under Off Topic

Have you ever just felt like your brain is thinking too much and is just going on and on and on. Constantly thinking about bullshit, or life situations, family, video games.

And then you just stop and think "man, I just want to watch anime and turn my brain off"?

I'm having that moment right now, as I browse E6. Just wondering if you fellow E6 Enjoyers have that or a similar thought as well...
Man, I'm gonna watch friggin Ben 10!

Hello, @ClossetPossum... nice to see you again in the forum after some months... and with a new avatar.

Have you ever just felt like your brain is thinking too much and is just going on and on and on. Constantly thinking about bullshit, or life situations, family, video games.

And then you just stop and think "man, I just want to watch anime and turn my brain off"?

I think it is healthy to have a good distraction and evasion from time to time, or on a regular basis, if you feel like you are pressed by situations in real life, that demand your attention.

In the last several months, I have the custom to enjoy with a relative very close to me, at least 2 hours daily, of seeing together TV shows. At the begining we enjoyed a lot of anime ... e.g. "Steins;Gate", "Psycho pass", "Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood",... And sometimes, in weekends we were so interested, that practically didn't stop seeing it the whole day... thing that you could do with specially long animes, for example Monster , just stopping to prepare some snacks, walk around the block for some minutes, and continue... xD.

Lately, however, what we have been enjoying are US-made tv serials and sitcoms, like "Daredevil", "Better call Saul", "Lost", "Dr. House" (again), "Foundation" (Isaac Asimov's), "The Big Bang Theory"... and so many others, that I don't remember.

I support the concept of dettach yourself from pressures of life... however, I am not happy with the concept of "shuting your brain off". My vision is that you could find in a well made TV show (not in all of them) may things that could help you to understand your life better, or at least your surrounding Reality... and you could attain that, precisely by making an effort of paying more attention, and reflecting upon what you see, even if the show is - off course - just fiction.

=).

But mostly, what I recommend is not seeing TV alone, but use it as an opportunity, if it is possible to you, to share some "quality" time with someone you love and care.

Greetings again.

i've felt like this multiple times. the only problem is i don't really do the whole "turn my brain off" thing because no matter how low-quality a show might be, i still somehow get a little bit invested in it.

Hey, ben 10 ain't that brainless. I mean, if you've dipped your toe in vs debates and power scaling. The sheer brain damage you get from the alien x disscussions is lethal.

But that aside. Kevin's backstory being retconed every season is also mentally straining.

I wasn't aware Ben10 was Anime now.

According to me, it is not, seems to be an all-American show (--> Wiki )

Sometimes animation could be subcontracted, say, to South Korea... and really that style of animation instinctively could be the case, however I didn't read anything refering to that.

"Anime" is a term that refers mostly to "Japanese Animaton"... although you could expand the term to include other kinds of Asian animation.

I don't know if that meaning have changed in the last years.

for me when I want to turn off my brain, I usually watch mr stain on junk alley or popee the performer.

So are you, what, asking for an anime recommendation? Something to just enjoy without thinking too hard about it?

Cuz if so, yeah, I might have a guilty pleasure show or two if you're interested

I can't usually stand romcoms and the like but I recently watched 'High score girl' and rather enjoyed it.

if we're talking romcoms, then toradora is a MUST. absolute gold. there's another one i watched called ore monogatari which was actually pretty cute.
though, if you do want to just watch something to turn off your brain and look at pretty colors, then mob psycho 100 is the show. it is amazing story-wise but what i'm getting at is its animation. it is STAGGERING how good this show's fights and overall production quality is.
