Topic: New Tag Creation

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

What is the policy on creating entirely new tags and populating them? Do I need to get some sort of permission, or can I just create new tags at will?
I would, of course, create a wiki page as well as suggest any apropos aliases or implications that arise as a result of creating the new tag.

As far as I know, there's no explicit policy on it. Just create it and go. Although it would be beneficial to bring it up and discuss it here first, to ensure it's a good fit (works properly with TWYS, and isn't a kind of tag that's been removed before), to ensure it's named well, and to let others know it's a thing they can start tagging too.

Pretty much what Watsit said. Searching the forum to see if it's been suggested before is also a good idea, feel free to bring up the idea here though.

i'll do just that, then.
i'm considering creating three different tags.

tag the first: "asking_viewer", like in these three posts in which a character is talking_to_viewer and asking a question. i know there is a question tag, but i feel it doesn't accurately reflect the number of questions asked in posts with dialogue, so i think a tag like this could at least ameliorate that problem while simultaneously being, well, a tag.

tag the second: "request", like in these three posts, where a character is not desperate enough to be begging but is more just asking for something gently. i fear this could be confused with meta tags like translation_request, though.

tag the third, somewhat related to the second: "milking_request", like in these three posts where a character is asking explicitly (or implicitly, in the case of the second) for another character, sometimes the viewer, to milk them.

unrelated, but i also want to try and see if i can add some more posts to propositioning. i assume it's characters explicitly asking for sex, so there could be cases where it's combined with asking_viewer.

if there are no objections, i will create and begin to populate these tags.

The naming of the first tag, asking_viewer, makes it seem like asking would be their base tag. However, the latter tag does not seem to have a functional wiki present.
Perhaps you can rename it to question_to_viewer to make things more standardised, it can also later imply taking_to_viewer + question.
Additionally, it gives room for the creation of other subtags such as question_to_character or question_to_partner.

The second tag, request, is already aliased to invalid_tag due to its association with free/requested artwork, which would not be a valid thing to tag on a post.
The three posts don't really have something in common other than overlapping with the first tag.
The first post can be tagged with help_request, the second post maybe offering_hand/offering_help, and the third post is just a question.

The third tag, milking_request, look like it could work though, but you will need to create a new wiki for it.

thank you for your input. i will keep all this in mind as i create the first two tags, and instead of creating the second tag, i will try to add more posts to question and the first tag.
