I dunno. "Standing up" makes for a useful distinction if we are trying to tag someone in the process of standing up (as opposed to just being in a standing pose), but I'm probably being too obtuse.

but people are using them for same thing so....

I see your point, but I also think most people would read "standing up" as just emphasizing how straight their posture is while they're standing. Or even to distinguish it from something else like crouching. So I think the meaning would quickly get lost if we tried to keep it. If it turns out we need a tag for someone getting to their feet, then I think a different choice of words would be best anyways.
