Topic: Trans pride colours tagging

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

it ain't the right pattern and the character isn't even trans, so probably should remove the tag (but hey, TWYS am i right?)

According to comments in one of the sources, it's actually a sweater taken from Animal Crossing.

Yeah this is the pink variation of the Oversized-Sweats Dress.

...

As for whether it should be tagged as trans pride colors or not I'm conflicted... the fact it's an animal crossing sweater is outside information and I don't think the shades being different matters too much because it varies a little even when people are intentionally using trans_pride_colors.

You could argue that it's only 3 stripes rather than 5 so it doesn't count, but there's post #3206155 and post #2818548 which both have many more than 5 stripes, or post #2809772 that does it in an even more subtle way that practically doesn't even include stripes.

The logo on the front is just about the only non-TWYS argument I can think of...

yeah but post #3206155 and post #2818548 still has the patter in sequence (blue/pink/white/pink/blue) and post #2809772 at least tries harder at a resemblance to the trans flag than the pink oversized sweater-dress attempts, so not great examples of outliers

but I think the bigger problem is kinda outside twys; i feel it's really disingenuous to label this sweater as trans_pride_colors. while i am sure a lot of trans peeps playing animal crossing rock this sweater-dress all the time, this is a cis male character wearing feminine clothing, which while hella valid, isn't analogous to being trans and i don't think is exactly what people would be looking for in a trans tag

This was my thought process tbh. I think it's reasonably clear that it isn't intended to reference the trans flag, but technically it does have those colours.

I feel the wiki or the tag name needs to be updated. If the criteria is literally just being colours then it means anything and everything else falls under that umbrella. Like normal coloured sylveon.

To be honest, I completely overlooked the sequence... since this is (blue/white/pink) rather than (blue/pink/white). I removed it because it now seems pretty clear in this case.

If we don't take the sequence into account we may as well start tagging the flag of Ireland and the flag of Côte d'Ivoire as the same thing.

So I found this post which has pink, blue and white as clothing colours. I'm curious if the transgender_pride_colors applies there or if it was mistagged.
As you can see, the general colours match the flag, but the shades are different.

If colors are the only thing needed to get tagged that, most colored sylveon post would probably get tagged that
