Topic: Hiding disapproval counts.

Posted under General

So in the most recent site changelog, it says that the disapproval count on posts is no longer public, and I'm wondering if there was any reason as to why.

They were causing unnecessary drama in the comments section. Most users are not aware of the metrics used by staff to determine relevance or quality, so it led to a lot of speculation that may reflect on the artist negatively.

Fair enough.
It was useful as a gauge to see if this might be a good artist to post, but yeah, I'm not surprised it caused drama.

Pardon me for being under a rock, but what does this entail? I can still see other users' "deleted" count.

It was a visible statistic showing staff votes who didn't believe a post met quality standards/relevance before a post was approved

yeah i remember around last week when some foxes_in_love uploads got that stat because the simple art style technically didn't pass minimum quality standards and people got maaaaaaad

Oh, in that case I have no arguments against the change. I like seeing my own deleted posts count, it helps me keep watch if something new happens (whether a deletion or undeletion), so if that becomes hidden, I hope they make it only a "by default" thing and have an option to show it.
