The bulk update request #1929 is pending approval.

create alias robot_arm (294) -> robotic_arm (1371)
create alias robot_arms (36) -> robotic_arm (1371)
create alias robotic_arms (90) -> robotic_arm (1371)
create alias mechanical_arms (33) -> robotic_arm (1371)
create implication robotic_arm (1371) -> prosthetic_arm (4589)
create alias robot_leg (22) -> robotic_leg (345)
create alias robot_legs (17) -> robotic_leg (345)
create alias robotic_legs (109) -> robotic_leg (345)
create alias mechanical_leg (339) -> robotic_leg (345)

create alias robot_wings (8) -> robotic_wings (0)
create alias mechanical_wing (10) -> robotic_wings (0)
create alias mechanical_wings (299) -> robotic_wings (0)
create implication robotic_wings (0) -> prosthetic_wings (30)
create alias prosthetic_wing (19) -> prosthetic_wings (30)
create implication prosthetic_wings (30) -> prosthetic_limb (6760)
create alias mechanical_tail (79) -> robotic_tail (52)
create implication robotic_tail (52) -> prosthetic_tail (114)
create alias mechanical_tentacle (0) -> robotic_tentacles (173)
create alias mechanical_tentacles (61) -> robotic_tentacles (173)
create alias robotic_tentacle (1) -> robotic_tentacles (173)
remove implication mechanical_penis (255) -> penis (1579788)
create implication robotic_penis (64) -> penis (1579788)

Reason: Different ways of saying the same thing. "Robotic" was chosen as it is the most popular tag for arms, legs, and tentacles, and then applied to the others for consistency.

robot_penis has been specifically left out as it is a useful tag for indicating that a robot has a penis, i.e. anyone can have a robotic_penis, but only a robot has a robot_penis.

Okay, apparently I also need bitWolfy to reject topic #2527 and topic #31745 so I can add
alias mechanical_arm -> robotic_arm
alias mechanical_penis -> robotic_penis

Also, what does "# duplicate of has blocking transitive relationships, cannot be applied through bur" mean?

topic #2527, topic #31745, and implication #18565 are blocking this BUR. That second link is attempting to do the opposite of the final request, while the first and third links are trying to do what they duplicate but as implications instead of aliases.

Thanks, does this require action on my part?

I'd say remove those two particular lines from this BUR and add the following to reverse implication #18565 and start redoing it:

unimply mechanical_penis -> penis
imply robotic_penis -> penis

Add a note in the post's description that you'll need bitWolfy to reject topic #2527 (as your BUR also does this through robotic_arm) and topic #31745 (as mechanical_penis is to be aliased away). Also add your proposal for another BUR that consists solely of the two lines you've removed.

alias mechanical_arm -> robotic_arm
alias mechanical_penis -> robotic_penis

Once bitWolfy's done his magic, you can create another BUR and add it to this thread.

robot_penis has been specifically left out as it is a useful tag for indicating that a robot has a penis, i.e. anyone can have a robotic_penis, but only a robot has a robot_penis.

Ah yes the "it's on a robot" semantics

I was about to create my own BUR before I found this one.

The cybernetics tags is the more popular tags for robotic limbs, and they already have more complete wiki articles. I propose we alias all of these tags and the robotic tags to cybernetic tags instead.
There is an exception, though. The robotic_arm tag explicitly does not refer to prosthetic limbs and instead refers to robotic limbs independent of any character character without a full body. We should not alias it to cybernetic_arm or imply prosthetic_arm
The robot_arm is mostly just prosthetic_arms so aliasing it to cybernetic_arm makes sense, but the mechanical_arm tag has a mixture of robotic_arms and cybernetic_arms, it would be better to make it an disambiguation to sort that out.

robotic_arm also has quite a bit of misuse with prosthetic_arms being included when they shouldn't be. It may be worth aliasing robotic_arm to a different less confusing name, however I don't think such a name exists.

A whole lot more discussion needs to be made on the robot_[bodypart] tags before they can be aliased around like this, even if I didn't have to hard -1 it for turning the tag for standalone not-on-a-character robotic arms into a prosthetics tag.
From what my prior posts are telling me I left the robot stuff alone in my cybernetics BUR because they are frequently tagged on things such as the FNAF animatronics, and I maintain the opinion that the tagging system must anticipate what a layman tagger is going to input in order to avoid causing new mistags. They're likely going to need manual maintenance, not aliases and implications. It's easier to spot things that don't belong(cybernetics in the robotic tags) in an isolated tag than mixed in with a larger one(robotics in the cybernetic tags.)

Updated

As I've read through some of the older robot part threads, I've learned this is a much more complicated issue than I first thought. The biggest thing I want is to strengthen the robotic_arm tag to keep incorrect images out of it and keep less images that belong it it from ending up hidden in other tags. I thought that removing more of the ambiguous tags leaving only prosthetics and cybernetics would help with that, but unfortunately it seems like there isn't a good solution that won't cause more problems.
I've been working on manually cleaning the robotic_arm tag so that new uploaders won't take a cursory glance, see cybernetic arms, and assume it's the right tag, but it feels like a temporary solution at best because it has just so many mistags.
