About a week ago I started being unable to play videos on the site. I've been using Umami for awhile and had never been able to view videos in the slideshow, but could always watch them if I went to the page. Now videos won't play at all unless I disable Umami and restart my browser.

Has anyone else been having this issue?

And do you know if all videos stopped working? Can you watch .webm videos in another website?

It's a Firefox browser extension for e621. I imagine bitWolfy can tell us more about it.

As for what Umami got its name from, that's the "fifth basic taste,"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Umami also called "pleasant savory flavor". Among the foods with a strong umami flavor is meat. Apropos, no?

Honestly, I can't tell you much about it because I've never used it.
Well, besides checking out what the features were.

There's a forum thread about it in topic #22298 from the developer.
I would talk to them about the issue.
