Okay first off: I could’ve sworn I posted this under the “General” category. How do I change the category? I swear on my eternal Soul that I went for the “General” category.

As for the real topic:

What will happen if too many Staff become Former Staff? Who will help manage all of the posts, as well as keep e621 from collapsing? I’m just slightly concerned, since I noticed at least 2 people I remember being Staff, are now Former Staff. I’ve seen countless people in countless industries and companies become short-staffed as a result of the Pandemic’s collateral damage, so I’m just worried for Moderator’s (And e621’s) well-being.

If there’s anything I’m not addressing properly, then here are some better questions:

Is it relatively easy to find new people that are well-suited to being Staff?

Are new Staff going to ruin the site in any way?

What I dread the most: If or when the site owner is permanently unavailable (wether it be from life, death or otherwise), what will happen to this site?

Am I just being paranoid over something that’s already been handled, or is there really a predicament going on?

So we are not really short-staffed for the time being.

Old staff leave, new people are brought onto the team. That's just how things go.

The site is owned by Bad Dragon, so it's not just one person responsible for it.
It's not something you should be worried about.

Varka, the CEO of Bad Dragon, owns F-list, Furry Network, and up to a point Herpy.net, before it got shut down (and relaunched by somebody else).

Since e621 is piggybacking off Bad Dragon servers, you would always see BD banner ads on the top of the page in the past.
Nowadays, you see more and more different advertisers on the ad space, which is a good thing since it means that BD is bringing in new ad revenue from e621.

As far as I know, most if not all site staff are recruited on a voluntary basis. They may leave due to many circumstances, but most of the time it's needing to balance between IRL responsibilities and monitoring e621.

Unlikely with how everything is directed alongside the community. I think the only major site/rule changes I have observed in my time here is the removal of all paid content, the release of the new e621 beta (which came with Lore tags), the addition of the Bulk Update Requests (BUR) and the Invalid category (and shifting away from the use of the vague invalid_tag), and the upcoming Post Replacement feature. A more comprehensive list of changes can be found here.

Of worthy note is that of there was another website that got shut down because of staff. Full disclaimer: Everything that happened on that website has no connection with anybody over here on e621.
Herpy.net, the other website that I had mentioned before, was an image gallery somewhat like e621 that catered to scalie content.
It got shut down by Varka, however, due to staff mismanagement and hosting some dubious content which led to the whole site being nuked.

Everything is owned by Varka and Bad Dragon. If anything happens (hopefully not), it will affect BD and all other websites they own. I'm sure they will have plans for keeping everything afloat.

After Herpy.net got shut down, it was relaunched by the community there under a new site owner, now going under the domain of Herpy.nu.

Dari and DasaDevil are BD employees who maintain the servers.
NotMeNotYou is also on the payroll, I believe.

Ah, that's good to know that at least a few BD employees are actually involved in site administration.

When I joined the site, there were about 200 uploads per day. Now it's more like 1200.

17673 posts left till 3mil. With ~1500 uploads per day, that will take just under 12 days.

e621 will never be short-staffed because we only allow people on the team with an above average penis size.

If they can't bring their own BD can hook them up with something proper.
