So I'm one of those people that have a really back-loaded favorites list (there is a reason I have a '2' in my name after all) and have tried to dig around the site for any recent news that might relate to the situation involving favorites limit. I was one of those people that really didn't like the cap at 80k that forced me to this account that within a year I reached that point again. I did attempt to begin cutting back and transfer over into Sets, however, the problems of both times and that the fact that at least 30% of what I'm trying to move doesn't.

So after getting a bit of a headache, I was hoping to hear if there is anything in the future that could possibly hint at the cap being upgraded?

You can upvote as many pictures as you want though, and search for pictures you upvoted with votedup:LongDongJohnny2. Writing your username doesn't actually matter, btw. Searching votedup:You_can_type_literally_anything_here_really_it_doesn't_matter gives the exact same results.

The reason upvotes don't have a limit but favorites do has something to do with site-wide performance.

So that means I just have to go through 177,000 images across 2 accounts then and I can recondense it back into 1

I wrote a Python script to remove favourites and swap them to upvotes here, if that helps:

It probably wouldn't be too difficult to swap it to check the faves of one account and upvote them on another though.

Also, I mentioned it in that thread I linked, but one downside to upvotes is that they don't get transferred to new posts if an old post gets deleted as inferior.

I would also like for there to not be a cap (or an increase to the cap), although it took me several years to get to what I have now, so I hope to have a few more years.

But I remember seeing in a post when they put the favorite cap that the cap exists to free up space and make the site run better or something. Idk if 80k was a limit on purpose. It would be great to see the cap increase to 100k.

It's because you are a janitor. The default limit for you is 250000, but I believe that it can be increased.

You can find your actual favorites limit through the API (favorite_limit, near the bottom).
