Aliasing disembodied_arm → disembodied_hand

Reason:
I don't feel there is enough of a difference between these two to warrant separate tags.

Hmmm, I'm not sure. I feel like there's a VERY big visual difference, but disembodied full arms seem to be pretty rare, and I doubt there would be much of a problem aliasing the arm to the hand version. I just know that calling a disembodied arm a hand is going to bug me, lol. I dunno, not really against it, but oddly it rubs me the wrong way.

I'm just thinking of how much easier it would be to tag disembodied hooves.

I dunno. What if there's an image of somebody chopped up), so that they've got a disembodied arm that DOESN'T have a hand attatched?
...I wonder if something like that even exists (Sans gore; ie dolls).

Presumably the hand would still be disembodied, so it would technically still be correct.

Could we use either the dismemberment or amputation tags for arms being chopped off, etc?

I'm ambivalent about this alias.
I've been using both tags, since those seemed different enough; but I'm not sure if we actually need both.
But yes, actual chopped off limbs should get the dismemberment tag.

My thinking was that on posts tagged with disembodied_arm it plays an identical role to that of a disembodied_hand, it's only the hand part of the arm that has any interaction with the focus character.

I've wondered about that myself. The only thing I can think of is when a disembodied_hand is fisting someone, so that means at some points one of the hands may not be directly visible. However, both disembodied_hand fisting and disembodied_arm fisting only return a few images each, and in almost all of those images, the hand is either still partially visible or the other hand is visible. I think since they're being used the same, tagged the same, overlap almost completely, and probably used in the same types of searches, then on a practical level this alias makes sense. They are not quite the same thing technically speaking, but I think it would be less useful to keep them separate than it would be to alias them together.
And, like others have mentioned: if someone does actually have an arm without a hand (dismemberment, amputee) then we have those other tags which would probably be the more useful way to search for it anyways.

Eh, yeah, it makes the most sense logically. I'll get used to it, lol.
