I can never remember which ones are which either. It's like the difference between jacket, coat, blazer, overcoat, etc. but even less people agree on the definitions of legwear.
I have no idea :/ let's call em hosiery, lol.

Technically, they are called stirrup_socks because there's a part that goes around the arch of the foot that resembles a stirrup. It's a term used for them in real life.
Also, if they don't have even the small stirrup section around the middle of the foot, then they're called footless_socks because the whole footpart of the sock is missing. And if it's just the toes section that's missing then they're called toeless_socks.
