Topic: Is there a way to completely get blacklists out of the search option?

Posted under General

I have a pretty significant list of blacklisted posts and I wonder if I can just outright take them out of the search instead of it being hidden?

Hello. I'm blacklisted about 300 for a reason, and I have the same problem.
I have rating:s and rating:q in my blacklist, but the number of pages in the search results doesn't change when I toggle enable/disable them. It seems that they are just hidden. As far as I know, there doesn't seem to be a solution to that. I've looked for a few past forums, but I couldn't find any...ยฏ\_(๐Ÿ˜ž)_/ยฏ
What I/you can do now is to go to Accout -> Settings -> Posts per page = 250 (maximum).... I/you are already doing that.
I'm basically trying to be respectful of every post and anime. But there are times when I want to use blacklist. Because my internet connection is poor and there's really only a limited number of posts I want to see on rating:e. And I don't wanna be one of those people at the ticket center who are told to "USE-YOUR-BLACKLIST".

By the way, in my state, if I enable it and search for rating:s, I get 750 empty pages. Instead, search for "rating:s -rating:s" , "+rating:s"[invalid] , I get Nobody here but us chickens! So I can outright take them out if I'm searching..... which means ....๐Ÿ˜’

That's quite the shame. I came up with a solution I am not too much of a fan of, but I see no other option. I simply downvote the post even tho I usually don't have anything against it. And just put -voteddown:BeardedAss in the search bar, that seems the only way I could get the blacklists out of the way

I see, that's an interesting thought. That method would work for the current situation.

The reason the blacklist is being used is "If you don't like it, do not look." = "Don't complain, just go away."
So I'm not sure if that's a good way to vote down instead of using a blacklist.
However, if you really want to do what you asked for, I think this is one way, too.

you've both already answered your own question โ€” excluding your blacklist from your searches entirely would be equivalent to a search query with 300 terms (in your case), which the server will not allow

this gets asked every other week โ€ฆ perhaps it'd be worth updating the e621:faq to answer this?

You're right. mean , I thought it probably couldn't be done, either to prevent load on the server or for technical reasons. So I understand that blacklisted posts are "hidden" rather than "excluded entirely".
I had no problem with that, but I do wonder, though when someone asks me about it.
I'll try to gather my thoughts while looking for information and then answer there.
