There were some discussions about this a couple of years ago, but when I use a tag search to search for "twink" I should reasonably expect to not see images that only contain males that would fit under tags like 'muscular_male' or 'overweight_male', which leaving it aliased to male can easily do. Even if we cannot agree on what the line for who does and does not qualify as a twink and therefore the tag cannot stand alone, which is a stance I disagree with personally, leaving it as an alias to male is only going to cause confusion. I tried requesting it as a new alias or implication but apparently wasn't allowed to since "twink" was already aliased to male. Having Twink imply male rather than alias to it would be better than it currently is, but ideally it'd either stand alone again or alias to girly as an imperfect but more useful alias.
