Topic: [FAILED] replace *_domination by dominant_*

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The bulk update request #111 is active.

create alias male_domination (0) -> dominant_male (53626)
create alias ambiguous_domination (0) -> dominant_ambiguous (678)
create alias andromorph_domination (0) -> dominant_andromorph (246)
create alias maleherm_domination (0) -> dominant_maleherm (12)
create alias anthro_domination (0) -> dominant_anthro (12853)
create alias human_domination (0) -> dominant_human (2472)
create alias feral_domination (0) -> dominant_feral (4582)

Reason: *_domination can be misleading. It's more clearer to have dominant_*, and it match the submissive_* counterpart.

I'm not sure how to write the script in this case, some are already aliased (dominant_female, dominant_male).

EDIT: The bulk update request #111 (forum #292971) has failed: Error: Antecedent name has already been taken (create alias feral_domination -> dominant_feral)

EDIT: The bulk update request #111 (forum #292971) has been approved by @Rainbow_Dash.

I don't like this change. Domination is an aspect of BDSM. Changing this to a tag such as dominant, seems like it will get confused for character playing the dominant / penetrating role during sex. It is not supposed to be used for that.

Penetrating your partner is topping, not dominating.

If there is a character acting submissive, it is easy to assume that their partner is in the opposing role, and this is not the case. Having a submissive character in the scene does not necessarily suggest that this is a BDSM scenario.

Domination as I understand the concept is about depiction of control over another person or at least the stereotype of such control. It is supposed to refer to a concept rather than some arbitrary trait associated with a character. I feel we will lose that connection to BDSM if the distinction between submissive, and domination becomes unclear, because these tags are not supposed to be treated as pure opposite terms.

Add unalias dominant_female -> female_domination first, then the new alias.

These changes would be good for clarity, and it'd also make these match the submissive_* tag group.

Thank you, it worked. I tried to do that on the creation but I got an error.

Apparently there is no check if you edit the request afterward.

Is there a way to fix that? Hopefully this BUR isn't forgotten.

I think dominant_* is more specific than *_domination for describing the tag's usage. The wording of the *_domination tags leaves me wondering whether the prefix is the one dominating or the one being dominated, but this ambiguity isn't present for the dominant_* tags. To me, these aliases should be fine and shouldn't cause much confusion so long as they're also implicated to domination.

Oh good! I'm glad this BUR still has folks' attention. And sorry again for bumping several of these forum topics (like I said, I didn't want these BURs to be forgotten).
