Topic: Why is an unapproved post deleted after 30 days?

Posted under General

There was a heckin hot sfm vid. It got deleted because no one approved it after 30 days.

This gets me thinking: how many posts of similar or better creative fidelity and artistic skill have been deleted because no one came around to click on it? The video had 104 favorites and a positive score of 13 votes. It's better than some things that have gotten approved in recent years.

Can anyone explain why an unapproved post is deleted instead of remaining active until it has been reviewed?

Also, what would happen if someone reuploaded the same post that was deleted with the only reason that no one had approved it? Would the poster be punished for it? It's not like it was actively deleted with a reason or anything.

I saw that video, didn't deem it worth approving. If we got by what's "hecking hot" or has favs then we wouldn't need manual curation here.
If someone reuploads deleted content, it's deleted as previously deleted (one of the few legit flag reasons) and doing this knowingly is worth a record on your account.

Reason why there's automoderator is that most of the time stuff like this on gray area where nobody wants to approve it, but can't justify deletion themselves (because you know you will get the angry dmails the moment you delete something and you better be sure you can justify your actions fully) so we would have stuff unapproved for couple months and head admin would come around and delete almost everything anyway.

At least we have it at 30 days and you can contest deletion with head admin, it should say on bots bio to contact them about bots actions. The new site used to have warning label for janitors to go and do approvals if they hadn't done so in couple hours as sites like danbooru the automoderation is only couple days to my knowledge.

Gotcha. It still sucks though; if nobody wants to approve it, yet no one can find a reason to delete it, then it seems that it should stay. In this particular case with this particular upload, it wasn't like it was poorly made or had bad shading or bad textures; it had some keyframe flaws and clipping, but a lot of 3D Animation here has that too.
