Topic: [REJECTED] Tag implication: shirt_lift -> partially_clothed

Posted under General

The tag implication #31945 shirt_lift -> partially_clothed has been rejected.

Reason: Because "partially_clothed" means that some character is wearing at least one article of clothing that is somewhere between being on, and being off; and "shirt_lift" is exactly what it says on the tin-some character is lifting their shirt up, leaving it partly off, but not all the way. In other words, a lifted shirt literally fits the definition of the partially_clothed tag.

EDIT: The tag implication shirt_lift -> partially_clothed (forum #289728) has been rejected by @NotMeNotYou.

But a raised shirt doesn't necessarily mean the shirt's been completely removed. If they're still clothed with the shirt, is it really a partial clothing?

Yes. Read my post again, or read the partially_clothed tag's actual wiki: The tag does NOT mean that some clothes are missing entirely, but at least some are still being worn; it means that at least one article of clothing is partially off, but also partially on.

Ah, my bad.

This is probably fine.
I was wondering if this implication still works when a character is lifting a shirt while still wearing something under it.. But I suppose that still technically counts as partially clothed by the wiki.

Hmm, it does mostly seem to be tagged when the shirt in question is the lowest full layer, though I did find this post

Also, is partial_nudity a missed alias? partially_nude is aliased into partially_clothed

Well, that's just not appropriate at all. With what partially_clothed means, partial_nudity just doesn't always fit, and this just might help explain why images get incorrectly tagged as partially_clothed so effin' often...

I don't think it would work. Even a character is fully_clothed, they could still lift their shirt.

The correct implication would be shirt_lift -> clothed, which already exists.

Again, the "partially_clothed" tag does not mean that some clothing is missing, but other articles of clothing are not.

It looks like it may need a tag project. Glancing through the images tagged partial_nudity yields a mix of topless, bottomless, mostly_nude, and partially_clothed, as well as some "fully clothed" characters in underwear or just skimpy clothes.

Perhaps partially_clothed should be edited to include a requirement that the clothing being "pulled aside or partially removed" expose that character's intimate areas. Looking at the first few pages of partially_clothed rating:safe most of the posts are definitely not partially_clothed. There is post #1826973 and there may be some more like it, so a decision would have to be made if falling off the shoulder counts as "partially removed" and similarly in post #1946342 he is "fully clothed" in that (aside from being a dragon) he could walk down the IRL street dressed like that and not get any funny looks. So it depends on what the intent of partially_clothed is supposed to be. If it implies exposure (as the example images, and majority of posts suggest) then the wiki should be changed. If it is simply for any article of clothing not fully in place, then shirt_lift would be a subset of partially_clothed.
