I have a little extra time on my hands this week and need some advice on our woodwork as a potential project.
Nearly all of the wood trim, including floorboards, door frames and stair railings are scratched up. It’s been this way since we bought the house. I assume the former owners must have had a small dog that did the damage. It’s been bothering me for ages but we had other projects to work on.
Is it manageable to sand and paint all of these or should we just replace everything? I had thought initially that sanding and painting was the way to go but that seems like soooo much work. We have a 3k sq ft house so that’s a lot of wood to fix.
It’s dated anyway since it’s original oak from 1987. I think the stair rails should just be replaced to help modernize the house. But the trim and floorboards? Help me figure this out. How can I fix this?
Pics included.
