Topic: Tags according to the sources?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

I noticed that some images have the tag ambiguous gender, though when you take a look in the source of these images, it's not ambiguous at all.
One example I have is here: https://e621.net/posts/2039833?q=digimon+rating%3Ae
And in the source you find this link: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/33655487/
On FurAffinity, the artist tagged it as female and straight, so it's clear that it isn't ambiguous.

Should it still be tagged as ambiguous_gender or change it to what the artist originally wanted to create?

This is a time where lore tags can be applied correct?

I wonder if it gets fuzzy when it's not an owned character but an existing one, like renamon in the example. I honestly do not know

And where they are encouraged to be tagged, yes.

I guess, not, so looks like yes :O

Well, Renamon per the lore is supposed to be genderless, but in this case I'd argue it being an artist's rendition they get to decide whether it is an ambiguous renamon like in the series, or if they changed it into either gender.

We tag what is in the image. It makes the searches here actually work well. There is a reason the search function on FA is not worth a damn

FurAffinity isn't a site I use much, though it's true that their search function is not the best.

Thank you both for the information, which I didn't know about. It makes sense now and I understand why it's done this way. :D

Renamon is genderless in the anime? Are you speaking of the original Japanese version? Because I think Renamon is female in the English and male in the German one. I don't know much about other countries though.

Edit: Sorry, this is getting off-topic. Maybe someone could close this thread now.

It goes by artist intent within the specific image, not official lore.
"lore" is kind of a weird shaky term in that regard, I can only assume it sprang from arguments around things like charr (who are semi-anthro in their most common source material but frequently get drawn/tagged as anthro) and reggie_(whygena) (who had a sizeable following based on being established as a feminine male)
