Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

You're assuming that all relationships are male/female.
You are wrong.
Very wrong.

While specifically pointing out "male" in this instance would imply a non-male partner

Not really, it could be a gay couple and the pic could have the tags smaller_male and larger_male.
For people who like pics with smaller males, no matter who they're having sex with.

But the gay tag specifically makes a reference to at least two males interacting sexually to begin with, so having a tag that specifically points out that the sex of the person who's smaller in those cases seems redundant unless there's characters of other sexes present.

If not for the fact that non-males could be dominant/a penetrator in images containing more than just two characters, I'd say the proper applications of big_dom_small_sub, small_dom_large_sub, and the appropriate sex tags would allow for positive results for all possible searches regarding these topics, including images that'd contain both, but it's already difficult to do these types of searches when it comes to to tags like human_on_anthro to begin with.

They are mutually independent concepts.
You can have big female, small male and either small_dom_large_sub or big_dom_small_sub, and the same applies with the gender sizes switched.
To be fair, size difference covers all of it, but it doesn't allow as specific of searches as the individual tags.
These are just fine as tags, and should be left alone.
