Topic: Problem with "Tag edit" counting system.

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Upon editing the tags of my latest upload, with my profile up on one of my monitors I noticed the tag. "Invalid_Tag" So I removed it, refreshed my profile on the other monitor and noticed the tag number had changed.

So I went back and edited the tag twice, once to add the "Invalid_Tag" Back on.

And once to remove it again. And I once more refreshed the page. And the number went up twice.

Could this not be used as an exploit? Edit the tags of a page like 15 times for each image you change, then just run off into the sunset with a high tag edit count and look like you're doing a good job?

Perhaps this needs to be changed somehow? I'm not sure how, but it looks to me like this could be used to gain credibility here. (As most admins/mods/janitors seem to get their start by editing about 20,000 tags)

I believe this is known.

Also a lot of tag edits would get an admin's attention (good) attention. One check of the tag history would quickly reverse that I imagine :p

Sure but there has to be an easier way to solve that problem.

There is no easier way on way on the coding side, and I got my start as a mod with a meager 3k tag edits, the rest came from aliases and implications I created.

There would definitely be options to create "cleaned" tag edit counters (total tag edits - globally undone tag edits OR total tag edits - own undone edits (the first one would be interesting)) but that would cause quite a bit of strain on the server if that was done for every user at all times.
