I’ve been a user for some years but never got around learning how to make a completely new tag

Let’s say I am to upload a picture that features a character that has a made up name which is not on the list of tags already so I can not edit it, how would I create one for that specific character?

Apply the tag to your posts, find the tag in here, then edit to change its type.

You can even just put the tag type before the tag (i.e. artist:KoshkaGato) and it'll automatically become an artist tag.

Only if it's a new tag though. Pretty sure they removed the ability to change the type of existing tags through that field, so that users stopped accidentally removing an artist tag when they didn't know they shared a name with somebody else's character.
