Implicating fingerless_(marking) → markings

It is a type of body marking, in the same way as 'gloves_(marking)' implies 'markings'.

+1, I was gonna make a forum post suggesting those same aliases, but I'll bump this instead since your list is much more comprehensive on all the different 'markings' related tags. Seriously though, that's some superhuman levels of thorough tag research, awesome job!

I'mm a add a bit to this too.
Some of this is probably a bit more conversational than a list, at least right now, so please do give this a read.
I'm using tag_group:colors as a reference point.
We have tags named red_markings and yellow_markings which are intended to be used with some (inspecific) types of markings tags. I imaging that a yellow_star_marking tag is too specific, however star_marking yellow marking is probably supposed to be correct. That said, we have some markings that are color specific-- like blue_spots and blue_stripes which should probably imply blue markings?
Or are they better kept separate?
Countershading is the word for when a critter has a lighter belly and a darker back. We have tags like white_countershading and pink_countershading that imply countershading which is the umbrella tag. Countershading is for "at least the thorax and abdomen" though other parts may be included. On the other hand, we also have tags like white_belly that would seem to share a lot of territory with white_countershading. ("This tag is added when the stomach of a character is white in color." -- it does not seem to imply white_countershading or anything.
the *_belly tags seem less supported than the countershading tags. For example, white_underbelly is aliased to white_belly, but that is only true for white and black bellies, whereas all of the countershading tags have implications set up.
Should white_belly imply white_countershading? should white_belly be aliased to countershading?
I think there mighta been one or two things I was chewing on but I'm out of time for right now.

I concur with implicating *_stripes and *_spots to their respective color markings, since spots and stripes are themselves a form of marking.
As for belly colors and countershading, keeping both does seem largely redundant. I definitely think one set should be kept and the other set should be aliased away. Personally, I favor keeping the *_belly tags (though I'm a bit biased since I've used the *_belly tags previously and have been unaware of the *_countershading tags). The *_belly tags are shorter to type, easier to remember the spelling of the tags, and easy to discern the use of the tags by the name alone. I could be wrong, but I feel that the *_belly tags are the better selection.
