I would say no.
o_o is a full expression, mouth included.
o.o is eyes and a nose, so in theory the mouth could be smiling, frowning, wide open, etc. which wouldn't fit with a o_o
Edit: Also, I am now sad that I put that much thought into emoticons.

Alias o.o → wide_eyed?

That one would make sense to me at least. The finer points of these types of emoticons tend to be lost on me. And I'm guessing I'm not the only one, or else we wouldn't have this thread. So aliasing it to an actual word tag that's (hopefully) a little more clear would make the tag less ambiguous in meaning.

What.

I think that the only emoticon that should be a tag is <3.
All the others are a weird combination of unspecific and overly specific. Not to mention that there's dozens of variations on the same damn emoticon.
o.o O.O 0.0 o.0 o.O O.o 0.o 0.O O.0, ect.
That's JUST the emoticons with the mouth as a period.
Then there's the issue of people tagging their reactions to the image with emoticons.
I'm all for nuking it.
