I'm hoping this is the right location to discuss this, and I'm not really sure if this has been discussed before and what not...
But I digress...
I have known for a while that upon deletion of a post that is either sub-par quality to another post or fails to meet some criteria, all the favorites and what not are transferred over to the parent post.
Sounds cool right? Well, there are some issues I feel I should point out to this parent/child system.
Okay story time...
I was browsin' the site, mindin' my own business and lookin' in my favorites to find this:
in my favorites. I thought, "Hmm, I never actually fav'd this pic, but I did happen to fav a female edit of the picture in question" which was mysteriously deleted seemingly from existence, for I am unable to find it through quite a few means.
Now you may be asking yourself, "What's the big deal about this, Moon_Moon can't handle some dick?" and I understand your concern, but this picture is fine, I am content to keep the pic in my favorites.
But I am not the issue here. For this I'll bring everyone's favorite image:
While most people would blacklist the image or just not fav it in general, what many people would fav is an edited version of it:
A child post of it.
But here lies the issue...
Should said edit ever be deleted for any reason whatsoever, the graphic parent post would appear in its place in a persons favorites and what not.
So I know this isn't a big deal probably and I'm just being a soccer mom about all this shit, but like, I feel there needs to be a distinction between edits of a parent post, and higher resolution uploads in some form or fashion.
I'm not sure how this could be done, and I don't really see the benefit of even doing anything about it, instances like the above are few and far between, but it has been on my mind for a little while and I just felt like getting a second opinion on what is probably a waste of everyone's time.
