Topic: what scares you?

Posted under Off Topic

So this is pretty self explanitory what are your worst fears and why are you scared of them for me

-spiders: they are just fucking creepy

-blood and gore: when I was seventeen a guy killed himself in front of me and his blood and gore whent EVERYWHERE

-ceiling fans: when I was nine one fell on my cousin and it gave him a cuncussion

-the dark: its because I can't see anything and I get paranoid someone is RIGHT BEHIND ME I can sleep fine but thats about all

well thats enough from me, and no this is not a game thread

Demonic possession is one of my biggest fears. I know it probably won't happen to me, but it makes me uneasy to know that it's possible.

The potential of a zombie outbreak due to the evolution of either a disease such as rabies, the evolution of a parasite, the evolution of a fungus, or scientific experimentation. I may seem like a crazy person, but think about the fact that zombie-like infections exist in the animal kingdom. There are parasites that infect insects and control their corpses. Plus, The Last of Us.

The possibility of losing someone close to me before it's their time.

Real life zombies are just one mutation of Mad Cow Disease away. That should scare the shit outta you.

- nothing, e621 has shown me everything there is to see. Nothing really scares me anymore.

- spiders. they don't scare me, I just have a very very strong dislike of them. I hate them.

- the dark, my brain turns clothes in my closet into dead people standing there in the closet watching me... Pretty fuckin creepy

Dogs. I do not like dogs, yet we had Great Danes when I was very young that I can scarcely remember now. No rhyme or reason to that; I just try to give them a wide berth. Of course, this does not even remotely extend to the world of furry.

My other fears that come to mind are quite mundane anxieties, and so I don't believe they qualify as fears for this thread's purposes.

Teenagers driving. I see a bunch of them speeding through the parking lot of a high school near my house almost every day.

Just the unknown: wether it's the dark or the sea, my brain starts to think about the most scary creatures that could be just in front of me.

Updated by anonymous

Biggest fears? Let's see...

- Failure. And this happens to be the main reason of my failures, because sometimes my mind just freezes. Ironic. I know, I do have problems.

- Fear itself. Can't really explain.

Updated by anonymous

Death - Not the actual concept (I'd say I believe it was Milton who compared sleep to death, which doesn't make it seem so bad), but the uncertainty of what's beyond.

Most roller coasters - Anything taller or faster than Space Mountain, and I won't go on it. Not a fear of heights I don't believe, so I dunno.

Jumpscares in general - Blah blah blah, wuss, whatever. Haunted houses, jumpscare games, and horror films scare me to death (I'm completely comfortable with gore, though).

Not being able to move - Hard to explain. It's like if your entire body is stuck in a drainage pipe and you can't move to free yourself and you just have to lie there, struggling to move but not actually being able to. Terrifying.

Sounds like sleep paralysis. The brain wakes up, but the body doesn't. I hate it.

I've had that happen a few times, usually only lasts a few seconds though, not so bad.

I know some people get it worse though, that would suck.

As a rather lonely person, my fears are being alone, emotional outbreaks (I could say personal stuff I shouldn't), failure, dissappointment, die alone, loss of someone really close (a pet or a friend-almost-bro) and people ignoring me.

Others are a weird somewhat-recurrent dream where I hold a small sphere that grows bigger until, well, it's huge and others appear from nowhere and being lost or kidnapped.

Spiders? I don't fear, I just don't like them.
Future? Humanity will become lazy (more than it is right now) and technology will rule the world.
Drowning? I can barely swim and float, so I think I'll be okay.
Death? We have days dedicated to it (November 1st and 2nd). When it's time, it's time. Even if you try to evade it. Death will get to you eventually.

My biggest fear is losing my reality. Like not knowing what is real and what is not, seeing things that arent there and the like. A few things make me uneasy, but im not really scared by them. Like drains, losing my ways while driving or being alone for long a long time.

Updated by anonymous

my number one fear is worms and parasites.
like screaming, crying and hyperventilating for next hour fear level if i get in physical of contact with some freaky ass worm. seeing pictures of them might trigger a panic attack but usually it just gives me really uneasy feeling for about half hour. but i am completely ok with earthworms and butterfly caterpillars because i have handled them a lot.

another thing i am afraid of is horse riding. its simply because about a month ago i fell from a horse and i broke three vertebrae.

also i am afraid of heights and death.

Updated by anonymous

Currently my number one fear is failing to make a living out of doing something I love, namely making art. After that, simply being unemployed any longer than I already have been. <_< Possibly a bit more of a downer than some others on this list, but there you go.

Also, not a particularly big fan of being caught out in public with my fly open.

Kind of. never experienced sleep paralysis, though.

To broaden this, I do not have claustrophobia nor the fear of being restrained beyond my will. When both come together, though, it scares the hell out of me. Slightly confusing.

Updated by anonymous

I once had sleep paralysis. It sure was horrible. I woke up from all those kids in the garden screaming and making noise (some kid in my house had his birthday, and i was still sleeping at 2pm)

That panic was pretty intense, until i realised what was going on. From then on i played the waiting game.

Heights.
That's about it - and it's not even really the HEIGHTS, it's the prospect of falling. And the prospect of landing.

Maybe you're not scared of heights, you're scared of depths.

i'd agree it's not the fall that hurts you, the sidewalk hurts you.

This might sound weird especially since it's coming from me. (The guy who runs a masochist tumblr and has posted a couple pony blood pics)

But I'm completely paranoid of pain. (At least most of the time) Like I go out of my way just to avoid it because I'm incredibly bad at dealing with physical pain. Which sucks because well.. I kinda have a thing for blood and all, and I can't even do it because it hurts too much.

But I'm also reckless as hell, so I get hurt a lot. (Tho surprisingly have never been to the hospital)

Agliophobia: Fear of pain.

I'm not going to claim I have a phobia about it, because I do a lot of things that in the end produce pain. (Airsoft, climbing)

But I can't purposely produce pain at all. (Which ties into the blood fetish thing) And even until recently I could hardly play airsoft because of the pain it sometimes induces. I try to avoid it as much as possible, but it still happens. I'm not going to say it's a phobia, but it's certainly one of the things I am most driven to avoid.

I'd say it's more a fear. Imo, phobias tend to be a bit more extreme (f. e. loud screaming, being paralyzed, fainting, etc.). Maybe our resident 'small fox' can give us a better explanation (him, a psycologist or somebody wih experience on the field, whichever comes first)

I freaking love pain not even in a fetish-y way (even though it can be) loosing in a fight feels great. If I could wake up and get into a fight every morning I'd quit coffee

I... can understand why I mean being immortal means you keep living on as all your friends, family, and possibly significant others age and die around you as you go on.... and the only way out would be suicide...

If you're immortal you can't die, no matter what you do.

I thought if it was self inflicted it could kill you... I always thought it went like getting shot by a random person can't kill you but if you if you shot YOUSELF you would die...

Aw, but the fun part of being immortal is doing the kind of shit that would kill a mortal!

As far as I understand "immortality", no. You could sign a contract with the Death and give up your immortality but I doubt you could get out of it that easy.

Kämpfer_Xeon said:

Before you get too caught up in this immortality debate, bear in mind that immortality doesn't exist (at least outside of a spiritual realm which the existence of can't be proven either way).

Unless you're something like a jellyfish.
