Topic: Is it allowed to tag characters found using reverse search

Posted under General

Character names and artist names are exempt from TWYS.
Species may be referenced from source IF it is reasonable to tag it(EG: Don't tag horse if it is quite obviously a dog. If it is a alien, feel free to tag that specific alien species name).

Nevermind, checked the granblue fantasy wiki and it seems more likley that she is of the race erune, removing tag. I won't add it as species tag though since i know nothing whatsoever of this fandom.

Also, I'm pretty sure sauceNAO is not the artists oficcial gallery/webpage, so how could I use that to tag character name?

If you look up an unknown character off-site and the character on the post here closely matches the appearance of several depictions of that character off-site or here, then the tag should be safe to add.

I did that yesterday for this cat girl:

accessory animal_humanoid areola balls bdsm blush bodily_fluids bondage bound breasts brown_nipples cat_humanoid clothing cum cumshot digital_media_(artwork) duo ear_piercing ejaculation erection felid felid_humanoid feline feline_humanoid female female_focus genital_fluids genitals hair half-closed_eyes headband headgear headwear human humanoid humanoid_genitalia humanoid_penis interspecies kekitopu legend_of_queen_opala licking licking_lips looking_at_genitalia looking_at_penis male male/female mammal mammal_humanoid narrowed_eyes navel night nipples nude orgasm orgasm_denial penis penis_bondage piercing pink_hair pubes pupils ra'tiki_(legend_of_queen_opala) red_eyes self_lick slit_pupils solo_focus tongue tongue_out vein veiny_penis

Went to the post's source link, saw "Ra'Tiki", searched Google, searched Tags for something like Ra*tiki*, saw obvious similarities, and I chose the tag with more uses. Also, I doubt there will be another Ra'Tiki, so it's kind of silly to specify the franchise name in the tag, IMO. When matching up something to existing art, it's best to check for matching details, like eye color, hair color, her ear ring, and that shawl thing I gave up on tagging, instead of only the obvious stuff, like female, brown skin/fur, and cat girl.

That picture is probably an example of "forced_retrograde_ejaculation", but meh.

SauceNAO is an intermediate step in sourcing posts. Look at this. The SauceNAO for your OP post will take you to the artist's Pixiv, which is usually the primary account for asian artists. The problem with Pixiv is the tags are usually not in English. You can plug them in to Google Translate or wherever, but I wouldn't trust the exact spelling of those translations. Better to check one of the other galleries hosting the image to see how some presumably more knowledgeable users tagged the post.

Sankaku Complex has made great strides as a gallery, and they might be the best one currently. They did tag this character's species as "erune", and they have a whopping 3745 erune images to check against. We have none tagged as such. That's 3500+ animal_humanoid images that could be uploaded here.

FWIW, looks like there's a phoenix in the background.

Couldn't actually find skasaha in any of the granblue fantasy wikis; is she an OC?

Updated by anonymous

Huh, just found a bunch of posts tagged erun which seem to be the same as erune. Could one of the tags be a typo/spelling mistake?

I have the goods.

Googled "erune" or "erun" granblue fantasy and found

[BUR] Granblue Fantasy character and race names - discussion about the name differences on Danbooru
erun (granblue fantasy) - Danbooru's wiki

Googled "skasaha" granblue fantasy and found

Characters / Granblue Fantasy Erune - TV Tropes's erune page
Her actual name is Scathacha, née Dierdre.

TV Tropes said:

Spell My Name with an "S":

  • A few fans and sites spell her name as "Skasaha", which is basically a direct romanization of the kana of her name in Japanese.

Scathacha - her page on GBF wiki, has 3 tabs of info

Protip? You can enclose in quotation marks the words or phrases of your Google searches to force Google to find exact matches instead of near hits or suggested synonyms. Doesn't always help, but it seemed to help here.

The differences in spelling are the result of differences in translation. As per the first Danbooru link, I'd use "erune" instead of "erun" if "erune" is indeed the official English spelling. I'm less certain about what to call the character. "Scathacha" would never be wrong, but if no other boorus really use that spelling except us, does searchability then become an issue? I'm split.

Also, her standard bio starts by saying she's a dragon. Absolutely do not tag her as a dragon unless she bears resemblance to one. However, to make a long story short, I'm reasonably certain that phoenix-looking creature is actually a feathered_dragon. This alternate official art shows that it has 4 claws, whereas a standard phoenix should only have 2 claws. We can just make out what looks like a third claw behind her torso in post #1298703. With what looks like beak and all that plumage, I wonder if it should be seen as a phoenix feathered_dragon hybrid. This is one of those cases where Tag What You See kind of fails. What's more, it's probably an air_elemental too.

This degree of research is not expected when tagging.
