Topic: Anyone else having trouble with the tonyfox mass uploader lately?

Posted under e621 Tools and Applications

On multiple occasions the tool seems to have erased my tags entirely and replaced them with tags I never added at all (one recent example seen here, which was easily fixed as browser history had the proper tags I had typed before the uploader just throttled them), the site in itself randomly will bizarrely reject direct urls for no reason which is fixed by directly uploading with the traditional e621 uploader, and the site has gone down quite often for several hours on occassion.

Wanted to make sure this wasn't some bizarre set of issues on my end and perhaps see if others were having similar issues.

Is... is this one of the reasons why I'm seeing users uploading with direct image URL without providing actual source?

The mass uploader has a section for sources actually when uploading, so I think it's more of a "lazy people won't source" or a "no idea where it's from" issue

Admittedly the mass uploader has issues with uploading pixiv sources (it mangles pixiv source urls for some reason) so i tend to source those with temporary goo.gl links and then replace them after they post

Hmm... not sure what would be causing that. TBH I didn't even know anyone else really used the uploader other than me. It's hosted on my desktop so if I ever lose internet or power then it obviously won't be available. Not sure why or even how it would reject any URL, the form should be submittable regardless of what's in the URL field. Unless you mean it errors out on the next page, but I'd need more information to fix that. Also, does it replace the tags before you submit the form or sometime after that?

It was a bit bizarre honestly, as the tags were fine when I typed them in but, after submission, they seem to have deleted a good chunk of them + added ones I never typed to begin with. If it's any consolation I haven't had any of them replace tags since then, it was kind of bizarre.

Only way I can sort of explain it is that, somehow, maybe the uploader took the tags from someone else using the uploader and put them on the image I was uploading by mistake? It was weird.

As for the url issue, I'm pretty sure that was due to tumblr changing their raw urls again, so I don't think that's much of a problem anymore; haven't had it fail raw images since I figured out the new tumblr raw image format. I will say though that sourcing to pixiv is kind of difficult, as the uploader mangles (source) pixiv urls every time I use them, as it for some reason removes a chunk of it after upload.

For example, a post sourced with the url https://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=medium&illust_id=61388677 in the uploader will post as https://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=medium&illust_id= instead.

I've been using temporary goo.gl urls for those and then replacing the source after upload to work around the issue so far

If it was many months ago it might've been something I already fixed or was in the process of altering? I haven't touched the uploader code in months though, so if it was more recent then it wasn't that.

The only place anything is stored is local storage, and only for retrieval when you click the "restore data" link at the top of the uploader; it never replaces anything on its own.

I made this forum post pretty much immediately after my issue happened (10 or so days ago), so it wasn't too long ago I believe

Hm, bizarre... wonder why it messed up so bad then? It was a pretty weird thing I suppose ahaha
