For the smoothie tag, can I add smoothie_(artist) to post #410146 & post #452466 and change the tag to a general tag for the rest?

Should be able to, sounds appropriate to me.

Not sure where the cutoff is for changing tag category, but if you can't let me know and I'll take care of it.

I was able to change the tag to a general tag, thanks.

Edit: After adding smoothie_(artist) for post #410146, the mammal tag was added, though I didn't add the tag. Is it supposed to do that?

I think so. Fox and canine both imply mammal, and I've noticed that some pictures, probably older ones, that should have the mammal tag don't have it. I think you just jolted the system into putting in a missing implication, so I doubt you need worry.

Yeah. It means that at some point "mammal" had an implication made to "canine". So if someone saves a tag edit to the image and the system realises an implication hasn't been added, it does it automatically. Usually if a tag just seems to "appear" magically when you edit the tags, it means there's either a tag implication or a tag alias being automatically applied to it. It's normal though, so no worries.

Unfortunately the aliasing/implication system has had a bad habit of failing in the middle of processing new aliases and implications lately. So the aliases/implications get created, but the process fails before it updates all the posts that need to be updated. The next time that a tag edit is made on those posts (even blank edits), it triggers the site to also process any tag changes that need to be made for it as a result of an existing alias or implication.

Why not set a day to just refresh the database?

I've proposed it several times, it's just not something that's in my control. It's up to the devs to decide when to do it or how they want to do it.
