Topic: [Feature] Implemented Link For Deleted Posts

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

Requested feature overview description.
Okay, there are a lot of times I go back to saved tab lists, and I come to find out that the art has been taken down due to inferior posts and such. We need a better way to find said image after being lost. Perhaps a link to either the deleted image's page, or to the non-deleted version.
Why would it be useful?
It's near impossible, or at least immensely difficult to find that specific image with nothing but the URL.
What part(s) of the site page(s) are affected?
It applies to any post that was taken down due to a duplicate or inferior post. Specifically in full view of the image.

This is already a thing? All you need is the Source field to be filled out and boom, you have your link. If those sources don't work, it means the artist has deleted them, and likely doesn't want people finding their art anymore.

If you find posts without sources, do your best to add them in, or ask that the uploader provide one for new artists who you can't find them for yet.

Wait what? So you saying that you want a way to see the image after it being deleted? The whole point of post being deleted is that it's deleted.

It depends of the deletion reason of where to go then. If it's inferior then go to given superior post, easy and now you can see the same thing even better. If it was takedown or DNP, then pray all the gods that uploader wasn't lazy or stupid and provided all possible sources which you can then follow.

I am not talking about while the post is in normal view. Take this random SFW example: https://e621.net/post/show/1602316/2018-blue_eyes-cat-duo-feline-feral-japanese_text- This is what I mean by "normal view." You click "download" and it brings you to static view: http://static1.e621proxy.ru/data/7c/70/7c70322eb4ecd3dc9ea3248870c0b213.jpg . If you bookmark the static post for later. Once you come back to it, there is no pressing the back button. If so the image were to be deleted because an inferior post was made, the static page that was saved is turned into a 404 page with nowhere else to go. You can't just scroll down and click the source, or click the linked duplicate/inferior post, and bam, problem solved. I am directing my whole issue in regards to static posts.

I understand fully that if an artist requests their art be taken down or on the DNP list, but there are countless times there have been images I have saved that had been deleted because it wasn't the only post made of that specific piece of art.

The "static post" how you define it is link for image file specifically and if the image file is deleted, of course it will become 404, because it's link for a file that's not there and not for a page. This is correct behaviour and would require tons of coding for a problem that only you seem to have.

Continuing your example with post #1602316, search md5:7c70322eb4ecd3dc9ea3248870c0b213 status:any, as the MD5 is part of filename even locally saved files work or files gotten from elsewhere entirely.

OMG That worked!!!! I can't say I don't doubt that I am the only one with this issue. But searching " md5:"..." status;any " actually seemed to bring me to the deleted page.

make sure that you are searching for status:any not status;any -- a colon, not a semi-colon :)

(though it seems you got what you needed, I just wanted to emphasize that the character used there was important :)

Yeah, I did a typo. I realized it after trying to find an old post.

Now just need to find a way to do the same thing on a different site, particularly Derpibooru. Thank you all for the help.
