Topic: Realistic & Photorealism?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

What exactly is the difference between the 2? The wikies dont really specify anything. and more then half the submissions under realistic do seem to fall into photorealism in regards to subject matter.

should realistic be cleaned up and aliased into photorealism, if not why?

Realistic is for images of characters, creatures, etc. being depicted more realistically than normal. Generally used for toony things like pokémon.

Photorealism is for drawings that are so detailed that you could mistake it for a photo.

You can have realistic images without photorealism applying and vice-versa.

1. Toony pichu with realistic reflection. Not quite detailed enough for photorealism.
2. This is what a litten would look like if it was real (and the oversized eyes could somehow function properly). realistic and photorealism apply.
3. Two photorealistic cats. Only photorealism applies since this is not a "more realistic" version of something.
