1 looking_* tags: standard format?

There are a few directional looking_* tags out there, should they have a standard format?

This mainly is about the last one,

should it be looking_aside or looking_sideways?

  • looking_diagonally?

looking_to_side is the clearest of the 3, imo

  • looking_to_side
    • looking_left
    • looking_right ?

-
looking_left + looking_right are also options, but I suspect they don't currently exist because:

  • there's no definite way to know left/right is from relative to the character, or the viewer's screen
  • people hardly tag optics tags anyway
1b. There's also (TMK) no parent tag for the looking* subtags:

2. looking invalidation

IIRC, looking was invalidated because any character with eyes is presumably looking somewhere

Which makes a lot of sense when considering humanoid body types; however:

Not to mention all the various non-humanoid configurations and anatomy out there

Should it be un-invalidated?

3. Various aliases/standardizations of tags (not format)

Just cleaned out looking_between_legs and moved that -> looking_through_legs

Should there be an alias here?

looking_between_legs <- -> looking_through_legs

-
Personally, 'between' sounds better to me, since 'through' could imply the leg is translucent-transparent
(if we're being pedants about semantics)

I find through works fine, especially when used with plural, not so with singular, i.e. looking_through_leg. But either works.

I don't see any really good purpose of these, I find looking_away is plenty good. But if there is a need for it I guess I won't complain.

Again I see no purpose of this, an umbrella term just for the sake of having an umbrella term is a bit superfluous, I'm going hyperbole but let's get a tag to group all tags, let's call it tag (oops already in use).

Why? Why do we need a looking tag just because a very few number of characters can't look in a traditional sense? It would be easier to implement a tag for "not looking", but we kind of already got those.

GUI tags

There's a gui tag,

should we be doing anything with this?

For example, post #955271

Is gui the most specific (related) tag that's applicable to that post?

Was thinking such tags along the lines of phone_gui, and others
maybe vr_gui and ar_gui, but I can't really say much about the kind of posts on here that apply

user_interface

That blends in somewhat with hud. Not exactly the same thing but visually similar.

Phone_gui seems fine, since that's recognizable as a phone interface. The tag itself sounds pointless though, dunno why anyone would search specifically for that.

I suppose camera_view could be applied to that particular one.

Set it as someone's phone background to make them think their phone's playing up? I used to do that all the time with desktop wallpapers, saving icons onto it and watching some poor twat try to click on them.
