Maybe something that permanently puts the status of "Read" to a forum thread?

Why would it be useful?
Sometimes I see forums that have no useful or interesting topic come across but have heavy traffic on a daily-weekly or even monthly basis and I would like to just ignore those without them taking up the front page each time.

What part(s) of the site page(s) are affected?
