I was about to use the C_DNP list with the character # tag trick (forgot the tag), but after rereading what you said, that would of gotten me no results for this post.
HOWEVER, I will link the C_DNP List for ease of access, so the artists can be informed that they can tell the admins their specific DNP characters, and so those helping know that there is a tag for this, instead of the DNP List .
I got no tips for checking, unless FA/DA/Ink also lets you search descriptions, in which case just search with Do Not Post, or an equivalent statement.

I've seen a lot of character-related takedowns recently. The DNP page is focused on artists. This may be valuable for taking into account commissioners who use any artists. The character tags could be implicated to avoid_posting, but I'm not sure. Part of the problem may be correctly tagged artists, but untagged commissioners.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

It seems to be policy that characters are not automatically deleted for DNP (possibly because they are significantly harder to tag if you don't know them?). They say so repeatedly in response to the takedown requests.
Doesn't mean we can't have a convenient reference list to refer to.

Well, to correct you, as stated you can use Conditional_DNP, and they can list their character names. However, another thought just occurred to me: while weak and not really useful, you could imply the character name with a "character_DNP", should someone want to make that a tag.
Again, fairly worthless in my sight, but I've seen enough "uncredited trace of another's work" flags being valid to think we have people who can name characters that would be Char_DNP.
*post written edit* we really need to synchronize up so one person talks at a time, but like I said: might be smart to make a new tag, and a wiki page featuring one image of each DNP character.

We do not give characters DNP status, period.
There will be no DNP implications to any character tags and we will not hand out records or delete images that contain any of those characters.
If you want to start a list that people can voluntarily check then be my guest, but there will be no support from the rules or admins enforcing it.
I also slightly edited the wiki page to ensure that it is visible that that list is not an official one, I might add something more to ensure that people know that this won't be enforced by us.

I added a few characters. Methodology: search takedowns for the terms character, characters, sona, and fursona. For requests made in the last 12 months that were approved and had 10+ posts, read it to see if the requester would probably like to be on this unofficial avoid posting list. If so, add it.
I am not adding references. That seems directly contrary to the purpose of the list, which is to keep certain characters off of e6 at the owner's request. I think all references should be removed or moved to the character's actual wiki page.
Nimmy, I know we don't delete posts just because a character was previously taken down, but what about the exact same post getting uploaded? post #904602 is a reup of post #430436, which was previously deleted. What's protocol?

Reuploads get deleted, which is why there is a flagging reason that reads "previously deleted". If you find any simply flag them and give us a link to the original upload.

Especially that. More than half of the time they contain no source, which is rather annoying.
Leaving a comment about it on the post and then hiding it works.

And, for convenience's sake, the original
*another post written edit* and a double-admin overkill right 'ere. That advice, Huds, is actually really smart. I hate getting downvoted for finding FFDs and having to comment.

I made the original the parent. Normally I would have flagged the post for the obvious reason but the issue was complicated by a previously taken down character, and I thought maybe for some reason the poster had decided to reupload instead of undeleting.

Just set the parent properly to the original version, if the parent doesn't fit when I want to delete it I will always check the tag history for changes in the parent field.

When did that policy start?

About 5 years ago, give or take a couple months.

I actually just had post taken down by character owners request. Thing was that I couldn't find the character anywhere, so I had to assume that the character was either generic canine (as he did look super generic), commissioners unnamed character, etc.
Only after the takedown I was aware who the character was, it was never mentioned in any way in original submission and never tagged to post. Of course if I had known this I would've at least tagged the character, but most likely not post it at all. takedown #4625
So having even unofficial list about characters being taken down would be somewhat helpful to avoid near instant removal of posts. Better to just leave them be, instead of giving them attention and angering them.

Is that so?
post #797814 (uploaded 5 months ago)
takedown #2765 (reason for deletion, created 1 year ago)

I remember that that one. Great post, btw. The artist themselves said it would remain up unless Pumzie made a new takedown request. Can we get this undeleted?

There should also be a Copyright DNP too....maybe not.

Would companies get DNP status like artists, so that any work from an artist published under them gets DNP, or would they have to continuously run takedown requests?

SexyFur and HardBlush are essentially copyright DNPs.
