Topic: anthro or humanoid

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

The problem is glorantha's trolls.

They are often depicted with pig-like or dog-like snout, tusks, bare skin, sometimes with hair on top of head, sometimes with pointed ears, sometimes with rounded ears and they always have human-like body. should they be tagged as anthro or humanoid? they look like bald anthros but they often have many humanoid traits too?

With absolutely no authority, I say use troll_(glorantha).
I'd go with anthro also.

Definitely one of the most problematic species. Humanoid face is usually a good indicator for humanoid, but not when there's such a heavy mix of humanoid and animal features. The fourth one would fit under humanoid almost as well as most goblins do, but the other three I'm unsure about.

First one has the animal features, but also an equal measure of human features such as the hair and skin. Definitely borderline and perhaps more of a hybrid than either pure humanoid or anthro, but I'd pinpoint the first two slightly closer to humanoid. Whereas the third seems more like anthro to me.

Gloranthan trolls might be one of the cases where the ambiguous_form (or ambigous_type) tag could be useful.

They have nonhuman snouts to them.

Same can be said about some monster_girls..
Those trolls (second and fourth at least) look more like humans with snouts to me, rather than anthropomorphic animals. Note the humanoid hands and ears on the second one, etc.

If they're anthros, then what are they based on? Boars maybe, but that seems like a stretch.

Monster_girl is not implicated to humanoid for a reason.
And, yes, the first three do look like boars. That last one looks more like a cat.
