Topic: [Feature] Recently added tag filter

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

When you search, the newest posts come first. What if you could filter for when the tag was added? I took a look at the sorting section on the Cheatsheet page. Didn't see this feature there either.

With this search filter you would see posts with the recently added tag come first in the search. That way you will see posts with recent tag updates show first. That way it's easier to find older posts you may previously have missed and it's nice to see older posts get some attention imo.
Would this filter work with several tags being searched? If not, it's still useful for single tags.

Pages like Posts, searches and tag Wikis would be affected if enabled by site or user. May be more than this.

As of right now it would be really hard on the server to do. Added tags aren't dated in a way that makes them easily searchable so it would have to all be parsed through on every search, which would use a lot of resources.

Might be worth looking into though...

Contributor feature maybe? At least the server would use lot of resources more rarely.

Normally I'd see Hudson here nagging about how you didn't use the template... lol

I agree with parasprite on the server resources thing... Having a website running on a server that shouldn't a server, I totally get conserving resources for other higher-priority things.

It's not nagging, I was doing my task by ensuring people would use the template. To my dismay, people still don't use the bloody thing even though the page says this category requires the template, written in big red headers upon creating a new topic.

I would continue to enforce this, but since I have stepped down from my position, I am no longer authorized to do such.

I didn't mean it was a bad thing... sorry if that came across rude...

Some things admins do may come across as nagging because the intent isn't directly clear. In this case, getting users to use the template for submitting suggestions and bug reports makes the lives of the devs easier and more organized.

I'm sorry, but it's not idiot proof.

I've noticed that users still manage to not use it, which makes me consider submitting a feature request for separate fields to fill in to force users to use the template. However, I don't know to what extent this is possible or wished for.

The form to fill in would look a bit like a takedown form in my head, which then just gets posted as a new topic with the correct format.
