this is supposed to be for media...like movies on a tv, or porn mags. instead it is being used for posts that are rated explicit but have nothing to do with porn other than content because no one reads the wiki entries before using tags like these.

Pornography can refer to a lot of things:

Porn_magazines: This includes parody magazine_covers

Videos/digital pictures: Anything displayed on an LED screen (computer, cellphone, tablet, or television) or projected on a wall. I guess a magical hologram (post #271950) could count too.

Art: A drawing (or painting/etc.) or a poster

Nude photos

books: Erotic literature. (...or I guess an anatomy book. post #685116)

DVDs: The actual disc/container.

Porn shoots: This might seem unrelated, but the tag is sometimes used this way. Example: post #39305

It might be hard to split up such a broad tag...

Well the way it's being used right now. More often than not I find the tag on posts depicting sex with no porn anywhere in the background of the image. People tend to think "oh hey this is porn, let's tag it pornography" not realizing the wiki says
"The image being pornographic or explicit itself does not mean that it contains an example of pornography."
Hence it's tagged more often incorrectly.

That's an exaggeration.
I've been checking it from time to time, there's rarely much to fix. And the posts that have it mistagged usually have dozen other mistags too, so those need to be checked anyway.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that pornography posts do correctly depict porn rather than being porn themselves. I don't think the tag needs much cleaning up.

I say no, because then you could add those little recording symbols to just about any post and suddenly it becomes pornography? I've been tagging those as recording, which probably has a lot of overlap with camera_view (I've never noticed that tag).
