I really don't think renaming the tag is actually going to solve anything. People are just going to add the couple tag anyway like usual and not pay attention to whether it's been aliased to something else or not.

chubby was aliased to slightly_chubby for similar reasons and I'm really not seeing any improvement in mistagging.

That's kind of why we have aliases. People don't pay attention to what it's supposed to be tagged as, so we make aliases so that it automatically corrects it.

yeah but this alias was created so people would realize what the tag is actually meant for and that they would stop adding it to duo images. just like chubby -> slightly_chubby was made so people would stop misusing the tag. but people still keep adding chubby on pictures depicting obese and overweight characters and so on.

It hasn't been mistagged that much lately.
There's a lot of old mistags mixed in, but vast majority were made by the same user, who has since been permabanned (on multiple accounts).

Changing the name would make it even more manageable. Someone still has to go through the old posts and clean those up, though. I tried that once, but got distracted by more urgent projects after only checking ~20% of it.

In such a case, you report them for poor tagging and they get talked to, I don't see the problem here.

By the way, the lovers tag should go in the same pile.
