In post #489993, it's had the coyote tag for a while, but I think she looks more like a fennec. Opinions please.

Honestly I have no idea where they got coyote from. The artist's post didn't have anything listed as species (any tags at all actually), but looking at the commissioner's post of it seems to agree with you that it looks like a fennec (which I would agree with as well). At least the ears are fennec if not anything else. :P

Yeah, it really does look like a fennec (probably because of the ears and the sandy coloration). So yeah, it's better tagged as fennec than coyote. Good catch!

Just as an important side note: because we go by twys [Tag What You See], the species gets tagged based on what it looks like. So that would mean that even if the source had claimed it was a "coyote", that wouldn't have changed the fact it looks a lot more like a fennec than a coyote, which would still have made fennec the more appropriate tag. Not really something anyone in this thread was confused about, but I know these threads get read by a lot of people looking for information on how we do things. So I just wanted to mention that as well while we were on the subject, in case it helps someone who's reading through this thread 3 months from now.
