Topic: avoid_posting on conditional_dnp posts

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

How about removing it?

Right now it looks like conditional_dnp implies avoid_posting, but that's just wrong.
It reads as if this particular image should have been avoided.

So the proposition is to keep only the (artist) -> conditional_dnp implication for conditional DNPs, and reserve avoid_posting for artists who are unconditionally DNP.

Current setup makes it look like conditional_dnp is actually worse than unconditional dnp. It should be the other way around.

I think it implies avoid_posting so that admins can check whether the specific piece violates the conditional_dnp conditions or not (and maybe to discourage viewers from thinking the artist is entirely okay to post). Though I think the conditional_dnp tag would be enough to say "hey, check this one" so I agree with your post.

This, especially the second part.

It's so users who are particularly bad at checking which images from a particular artist can or cannot be uploaded don't go around making a mess.

Seems like less of a hassle to have to deal with a few zealous, uninformed users flagging the wrong images than to have to deal with an angry artist or character owner.

The conditional_dnp tag was set up later for artists that only wanted specific things to be DNP. It was piggybacked onto avoid_posting because at the time it was simpler than rewriting a few parts of the site to recognize conditional_dnp as well. However, deleting the implication has actually been requested by both users and even some artists with conditional DNP status who are concerned about users being discouraged from posting anything from them.

I've already pushed some changes to be ready for the next update to recognize conditional_dnp, and I plan on deleting the implication when the updates are up and running.

Oh, ok, that's good to hear.

Yeah, this is what I'm concerned about. An artist opts to exclude some of his stuff (which is usually a nice move) and ends up being treated the same way as those who chose total DNP policy, at the first glance at least.
